You would never come across the pub if you didnt know it was there or unless you were recommended. They have a fantasic selection on their menu, and will always be happy to change anything for you, one time I was unsure on what type of potatoe to have and they insisted on me trying the two types before I chose, and so brought a small dish with each type in for me to try before I ordered, what service! I have also arranged for my parents to eat there and I paid for whatever they wanted without them knowing until the end of their meal and they were very helpful, billed me and sent me a receipt, great. If you are tempted with eating here, then do not hesitate, you will not be dissapointed, but my recommendation would be to book very early if you want to eat in the resturant as they get very booked up, even weeks ahead, fab place, also have nice seating outdoors. One word of advice if you are getting a taxi, book the return in advance, you rarely get a signal on your mobile there, although they do have a pay phone in the bar.

Their won-tons are the best thing in the world. It is Thai food: if you like it, you like it. If not, go for a burger or something else. Thai food is something trying for. Their flavours are so subtle. Sometimes people believe it is just pricey Chinese food. Philistines.

However, this restaurant is pricey. OK, it is not rubbish food, but for their prices I would have liked something better. Except the won-ton, of course. Maybe the best option is: go there, have the won-ton, and then head to Chinatown for something more. Do not get hungry.

It is in a great location and if you are by the window you can look out over the bustling piazza or Covent Garden. The restaurant is always busy and bustling with a great atmosphere. The food is really good- the steaks are great especially the chateaubriand (not sure of spelling!). They always cook the steak perfectly. It is quite expensive, as you have to pay a cover charge and also pay for things like the bread and olives. However, you can use you Tesco clubcard deals vouchers here which is great. I have been here about 5 times, including on New Years Eve and have always loved it.

I love French food. More than those two deadly seductive combinations I LOVE the sunshine, friends, a view and people watching. Chez Gerard's has all the aforementioned. For what is described as 'superior French cuisine', the menu is too 'obvious' for my liking.

My starter of Gravadlax Norvégien (thats salmon and beetroot starter for you anglofiles) was overally mayo'd. Less salmon and more runny sauce. Which is a shame as by the time of serving (they were horrendously busy) I could have been seduced by a less than perfect soggy side salad. By the mains the chef had clearly up'd their game, and we were back on track. Flavours were fresh, my fish dish was particularly good, and friends steak was met with Mmmmm's and 'more'. or that could have been the effect of sun and wine.

Come dessert our party were a tad stuffed. And try as we might we didn't have room for the temptations on offer. Next time, less starters, more mains and room for dessert. And definately some more fun in the sun.
