Tags: quick bite, good brew, crowded
Miserable serviceWe went in there yesterday for a coffee instead of visiting Costa/Starbucks (like to support local businesses after all!). Was greated at the door by a miserable and surly proprietor who pointed us to a table. We had to wait about 5 mins for someone to give us a menu.

We ordered 2 coffees and 2 eggs benedict (about £18). The coffee was ok but the benedict was dry and the sauce did not taste like hollandaise (what little there was) - it had been put under the grill and set so there was no delicious sauce. The waiter asked us if everything was ok so I gave him some feedback, he snarled and said "we put it under the grill". I told him again that this had dried everything up and he repeated that they always put the sauce under the grill then stormed off.

This looked like a great bustling place, full of lovely deli items and unusual pastas. I was going to do some shopping but after the indifferent service we left, vowing never to come in again.

Its nice to be able to eat good quality regional cooking.

My only negative is that the service is often 'rushed', especially if you go on Friday or Saturday. its not the kind of place to linger - you get the impression that they are more interested in turnover of seats.

I do like Nahling, especially the outdoor area (unless its windy). There is an extensive menu which is generally very tasty. The staff are curteous. My only complaint is that the portions are very small. For 2 we always end up getting starters and 3-4 courses for mains plus rice and don't really come away full.

Bigger portions please!

Phone: 020 8883 4357
Over-pricedI've tried this Indian deli a few times but always come away feeling short-changed. The portions are a lot smaller than you would get from a traditional takeaway. The prices are quite steep too - £5.20 for a very meagre meat curry - over £7 if you want the 'large' portion (which is smaller than a standard takeaway portion).

The food may be 'home-cooked' on the premises but I don't understand why it has to be so expensive. It tastes all right but nothing out of the ordinary.

I really want to like this place but the lack of value for money puts me off going again.

Phone: 020 8883 8656
Over-pricedI've been using this chippie for years and have always found it expensive.. ok, they do have lots of different fish on offer but the batter is greasy and the chips always seem to have more small crispy bits than big juicy chips. You always feel that you have just been served the 'dregs' of the chip pan.

They don't serve curry sauce or gravy (and turn their noses up when you ask). I've often heard people ask about this (must be lots of northerners in London) but they don't seem interested in this huge opportunity!
