Mango Tree is big, plush and possesses an air of a â¬Üflagshipâ¬" demeanour about it. The dining room is impressive, the table setting oozes class and the service; described elsewhere as over attentive, I find excellent, friendly and efficient.

I came here with a 50% off the total food bill offer on tow. This offer requires the diner to vacate the table by 8pm, to be fair they nag about this all the time, by both phone text and email. Itâ¬"s sad to read about other diners whinging about being hounded by the said time despite the stipulations.

The food unfortunately is nothing to write home about and this statement is justifiably supported by the lack of any Thai diners in the vast dining room. The best dish was the starter of Tom Yum Goong, it was fiery, wonderfully spicy and more king prawns found than your average Balti variety. The Larb Ped (Roast Duck Salad) was generous with the duck meat, but I found the inclusion of rocket totally at odds with the green onions, chilli and honey dressing. The Pla Gra Phong of Red Snapper wrapped in pandan leaves lacked absolute freshness and the aromatic fragrance of the latter was nowhere to be whiffed. The spicy hot Panang Nuer curry contained some well-cooked pieces of beef brisket but unfortunately bland tasting. The industry standard dish of Pad Thai Gai noodles was disappointing, it tasted overly sweet and for some reason a trifle rancid, the large pieces of chicken breast chucked in looked indiscreetly out of place in a dish like this. To be fair to Mango Tree, the portions and ingredients of the dishes were not compromised nor skimped for diners clutching the 50% offers. Do be warned that the drinks be it alcoholic or not, are suitably expensive.

The atmosphere here is great for business, romantic and big group meals. If you do intend to come here for the food, I think making an appearance is only valid if youâ¬"re not paying for the meal in its entirety and please do inform the philanthropist who is footing the bill to book online for the half price offer.

The portions were generous, especially the main courses, but like another reviewer, you're going to spend quite a bit on drinks, whether you go for a cocktail or just a soft drink. Dessert was definitely a highlight, with a rich chocolate pudding served with clotted cream. Not really thai, but it didn't matter.

My main gripe with this restaurant though, was the service. Waiters and waitresses were a little cold, but they are obviously told to smother you. I'm happy to give up having someone pour water from a bottle into my glass every two minutes if it means I can have an actual conversation with my friends.

Of course it is a high end place with the prices that come along, but overall if you are after something more elaborate than a quick and dirty pad thai, then this is a great place to go. The service is fantastic as is the presentation - this is definitely somewhere you could take an out-of-towner if you wanted to give a good impression of London.
Each table receives a bowl of complimentary prawn crackers to start off with (everyone loves freebees) and unlike in most London restaurants the waiters walk round with jugs of water so that one doesn't have to keep asking.
The prices range from 5-10 for a starter and 10-18 for a main and I must say that although, it is a bit pricey, it is definitely worth it. For starters we had crisp vege spring rolls and delicious satai chicken/lamb/beef. The satai sauce was so good that we ended up eating it with the prawn crackers. For main course we had the pineapple fried rice and duck. Drinks were on the expensive side and the barman didn't know what a frozen margherita was, despite the fact that it was on the menu, but aside from that it was a good experience. You get a warm cloth to finish off the meal and wipe off any remaining morsels.

The decore is a tad spartan and noise levels make intimate conversation impossible but the vibe is good if you are looking for something slightly poseurish and upbeat.

The drink prices though? Man alive, I'd rather die of thirst :)
