Phone: 01273 775477
Donatello is one of many many cheap italian restaurants in the lanes in brighton. but this is not a bad thing - it means they all have to be competitive and do good offers. At lunch times, you can get a pizza or a pasta dish here for just £3 and it's good tasty food. Last time we went here it was a bit disappointing because they were redcorating the inside of the restaurant, so the walls were bare plaster and there were tools and dustsheets lying around!! this was about six months ago though so it must be finished now, and every other time we've been it's very nice. gets very busy at peak times but the good value and set menu make it worth the wait.

Itâ¬"s very big and takes a while to get used to where you are going! I have no sense of direction but I would still advise you to meet your friends before you go in! Oh, and go to the toilets in pairs! They have live music which is quite a good laugh and other than that they play your usual kind of indie rock n roll. Still a great pub, get there early if you want a seat and to be served!!

The only problem we had was finding somewhere to sit.The outside area was not being used and inside all the small booths were taken. he porterhouse is split on lots of different levels and has a great oldey-worldey feel.
i found the porterhouse to have a very different and charming feel and the staff were very polite.
a good place if you are looking for something with that little bit extra.

What we found was the largest selection of beers I've seen in the UK, a lively atmosphere and friendly bar staff. We ended up spending a few hours in there chatting to another group who said it was their favourite place at Covent Garden! While I wouldn't necessarily agree, I had a great night and found it wasn't just your typical pub - I would definitely go back.

The area outside is also worth a mention as when it stopped raining (!) lots of people piled out of the doors to enjoy the Covent Garden atmosphere :)

The rooms and bars are laid out like a verticle labyrinth, with odd little alcoves and snugs seemingly bolted on randomly in the most unlikely places. But there's a great selection of beer, there's usually live music, and you can certainly do much worse in this part of town, which probably accounts for its rampant popularity. Oh, and next time you're there when there's a band on, see if you can find them. It's the smallest stage in London.

It has a great atmosphere - very relaxing and chilled without being too "quiet". Best coffee/choc ever, good beer & wine, good food = mainly veggie chunky chips, salads, fish. It also has yummy desserts and cakes - you have to try the rich chocolate torte.
Most importantly of all, is it serves lovely coffee, and HOT WHITE CHOCOLATE which is DIVINE!! So go there immediately and order one!
There's a lovely sunny garden at the back which is great in summer.
The service is a bit "hit and miss" so don't go there if you're in a hurry!!

Phone: 020 8768 0096

Website: http://www.domali.co.uk/

Tags: cultured, poetry readings, proper food, amazing brew, crowded, quick bite
Domali (the exotic name comes from the names of the owners - Dominic and Alison!) is a great place, and serves the nicest hot chocolate I have ever tasted (ask for the Koko Deluxe!).

I had a FEB sanwich - Fried Egg and Bacon, however they insist on offering only Vegetarian Sausages and Bacon. Which is odd, when salmon, cod and eggs were on the menu! I can cope with veggie sausages, but veggie bacon just looks and feels wrong. The sandwich was served in massive doorstep slices, which was great, and I also had a side order of lovely chunky chips. My friend had scrambled eggs with salmon and sill, and he felt that the dill was too overpowering for the fish.

Service was friendly, although at the start we felt like we were being served by a school teacher who would give us lines if we didn't clear our plate! This was reinforced by the menu which stated 'NO SUBSTITUTIONS' on the full English breakfast option, which I felt was unncessary. (I remember being told in a Littlewoods cafe years ago that the breakfast was 5 items for £1.49, and if I wanted Item 5, a tomato, removed -not substituted- I would be charged extra, so maybe I am just sensitive to these kind of rules!) I am sure they have their reasons, but if it's such as issue then just price the items separately. NO SUBSTITUTIONS just made the place seem regimented. As I say, I'm probably too sensitive and in reality, this is just a minor niggle, and Domali is well worth a try. Sipping rich, hot chocolate on a wet Sunday afternoon in October, as the daylight fades and the streetlights come on, is one of life's simple pleasures, and I will definitely be back.

I've only been a couple of times - and hadn't realised there had been a make-over. However, that would explain the changes I noticed.

I thought menu was very standard modern pub food, and wasn't particularly well executed. I will probably give it another go though - just in case that was a one-off!

Excellent for those of you who like your beers. However, they couldn't have made the layout of the place more confusing! There's 3 levels (I think) but inbetween, there's mid levels and so many different little alcoves! I learnt that if you wanna meet someone there, you'd better meet them outside because there's no way you'd find them on a busy night!
