Refreshingly untrendyGood indian food, with some nice specialties, such as the meat thali, this restaurant is spacios but not uncosy, has friendly staff and is open late. In a very trendy area full of overpriced bars this place seems incongurous, but it's lovely nonetheless. Expect to pay about Â£12-15 per head with beer, starters, a main and sundries. The food is nice but not orgasmic, but for the price and location it's excellent value. This restaurant is an ideal place to stop on one's way to a gig or club.

Good pan-Asian foodThis place is small, but you can usually get a table. The cuisine is a mixture of Japanese, Chinese and Thai, with the big bowls of noodle soups and tempura being especially lovely. Everything is cooked to order and fresh, and the dishes are good value. The staff could be a bit more attenttive sometimes, but overall this restaurant is a beautiful contrast to the huge dreadful Thai place across the road. The decor is quirky and a bit DIY which adds to the informal and relaxed feel of the place. A meal for two shouldn't be much more than Â£20.

A good Vietnamese canteenThe place may not be everyone's cup of tea with its long canteen-style tables, but I like it. The food is not amazing, but it's good, solid and tasty, and most importantly, of good value. The vermicelli dishes are especially good. There is also a good selection of Asian beers, all of them priced far less than in local Hoxton bars. The place is always busy which is good, but can mean that staff are overworked and miss things sometimes. Overall, check it out once to decide if you like it or not.

Excellent for a boozy Sunday lunchLovely traditional Sunday roasts cooked by a Thai family, big portions and cooked with grat care, served with lovely fresh steamed vegetables. Â£8-9 for a main. Brillinat jukebox with vinyl and a good range of beers. Nice big leather sofas to relax with a Sunday paper and a beer afterwards.

Big protions, but slightly overpricedWorking out at about Â£50 for two for an average meal, the place is a little overpriced for what it is. The protions are big, but expensive for basic grills, at about Â£13 for a main. The atmosphere is a little tense, and staff are either too busy or not amazingly well trianed - they are well meaning but don't always get things right. The meat grills, in fairness, are pretty good, but avoid the fish dishes.

Great value, OK foodKebabs, salads, pastries and stews - nice but not amazing Turkish and Kurdish food. It doesn't blow you away, but it IS tasty and the protions are a good size. Some excellent and inexpensive wines, and you get a free pastry to start with and a free bit of ice cream and baklava at the end. It shouldn't set you back more than about Â£30 for two with wine. The place is excellent value. The staff are friendly and unpretentious, although not always very attentive.

The restaurant is a bit out of reach financially but the brasserie works just as well. Great service, excellent modern food, with decent size portions and fantastic view. The bar is somewhat overpriced but the cocktails are great and made by professionals.

Lovley northern Italian place - food is basic but good and excellent value, and the wine list is not too expensive either.

Recently discovered this place - real local gem. Run by a crazy Italian guy and a Gordon Ramsay-trained chef, the food is excellent by most part (even though it can be a bit quirky - like mediterranean veggies with a roast), service is always very good and a fantastic wine list. Sunday lunch at 11 quid for two courses is particularly good value.

Dreadful place, staff incredibly rude and inattentive, food took ages to arrive and when it did it was cold, order for drinks ignored three times, and when we walked out after the cold starters they had the audacity to add a service charge to the bill. Poor.
