The range of stalls is truely spectacular. I love the pancake house!! Totally recommend the apple and cinnamon! I just can't walk past without indulging myself. There really is something for everyone; chinese, pizza, panninis and bagettes. Theres even stalls for sweets and greek cheeses. The strawberry garden has a great range of fresh fruit and veg. The only downfall is the seating area which is a bit basic and canteen like but you've got the whole city to take it out to! Go where you like with it!

The market though is awesome. Some lovely food places to sit in or take away. Staff seem really friendly. Food is very cheap and good value for money. There is all sorts, from Chinese to British cheeses, fish, bread, meats....great if you love cooking!! The kitchen shop is brilliant too. It can get very busy at weekends but itâ¬"s worth the queues. Have a nice bite to eat in a sit down place after. The best place for this type of thing in Manchester, not one to be missed.

Arndale Market by Aytoun27

Review by Aytoun27

Rating: 3.00
Tags:
Revamped and changed since the moderisation of the Arndale Centre, in some ways it is better than before and in some ways, sadly, worse.

The good things are that since it moved to new premises on the ground floor it's much lighter and airer, but many of the actual shop units are much smaller. This means that a lot of the traders, some of whom have been based in the Arndale market for years, now carry much less stock. Therefore, there's less choice for customers.

There are a lot more food stalls in the revamped market and it's nice to have places to sit and eat, so that's a plus.

The fish and meat stalls are also good, but more expensive than Bury Market. On the non food side of the market there's a good stall selling kitchen equipment, including stuff it's hard to get elsewhere in Manchester. Also shoe shops, bags, and electrical goods.

The market has tried to move upmarket as well as upstairs, and sadly this means that some of the more traditonal stalls have gone, many forced out by raising rents. Overall, it's good, but it's not great.

Located in the corner of the Arndale shopping centre, in the middle of Manchester's city centre, its location and price mean top service. From baguettes, to rolls, to meats, to drinks, to snacks, to crepes, to foreign food stores, the market is always busy and always interesting. Go and take a look even if you have no intention to buy!

It has become a real destination for food lovers like my self.

The fish stall is something to behold and is one of two places I will by fish from (the other being the stall on Altrincham Market). On every occasion I have had friendly helpful and informative service from the fish stall and most importantly good quality fresh fish.

There are many other interesting food stalls providing a good quality, reasonably priced food It is the only place I have been able to find chinese style roast duck, some think which used to be common place in the china town but has declined in resent years.

The other shop I can't pass with out spending money is the Cook shop, Kitchen Details. They have every kitchen gadget you could want and even more you didn't know you wanted till you saw it. I bought a cast iron frying pan from them, as it was cheaper than any other source in Manchester or online. If you haven't bought one and can lift it, I highly recommend one. It been a joy to cook with and ideal for steak. They also have quality kitchen knives and utensils of every shape and size. Their web site www.kitchen-detail.co.uk has some of there stock online but there is much more in store.

The "Strawberry Garden", one of the shops at the market has some of the most fresh fruits and veggies to offer and that too at very affordable prices. There is something for everybody in this market, from shoes , clothes, electronics, sweets, confectioneries, patissiere to fresh meats and vegetables and fruits. A place not to be missed, if you are looking for some great bargains.

Arndale Food Market by purplemadwoman

Review by purplemadwoman

Rating: 5.00
Tags:
The new Manchester Arndale Market opened in September 2006 in its purpose-built market hall on High Street. Unlike the previous internalised hellhole, the new market is airy, clean and - thanks to a remarkable invention called glass fitted in technologically advanced units called windows - experiences natural light. This previously overlooked technique for avoiding Seasonal Affective Disorder means that the market is opened up to a different kind of food consumer. This is reflected in the more sophisticated goods on offer: there's a sushi bar, Chinese food, Greek food and healthy products such as chickpea curry for a very reasonable price. But the real highlights are the traditional market stalls. Pick up fresh turbot, hake or even live crabs from the spectacular 360 degree fish stall, a plantain or pomegranates from the greengrocers and wood pigeons from the farm stall plus beautiful pies and rare breed meats. The market's even been graced by the presence of Gastronomica from Borough Market in London, providing specialist Italian cheeses and charcuterie. Meanwhile the sweet stall doles out paper bags of old-fashioned sweets - pear drops, lemon sherbet, vanilla fudge and gobstoppers - and not far away Paradise Brewery re-invigorates the weary feet of the determined shopper with the perfect pick-me up: real ale. You can drink this at the stall in the market. Nice touch. The new Manchester Arndale Market exceeds expectations in providing inspiring products in pleasant surroundings. NOTE: THE EXTERIOR PHOTO IS OF THE HORRIBLE OLD MARKET! :-(
