An Appropriate Name by tigerhobbes

Review by tigerhobbes

Rating: 4.00
Tags:
It's good that Cranberry's has the name that it does - because it works very well! The food served here does tend to focus on the "cranberry" side of the palate - rather posh mixtures of light and fruity foods which, although a little unusual, are as lovely as they look on your plate. The traditional favourites are here, too, but you'll want to sample some of their excellent alternatives such as soups and sandwiches, especially earlier in the evening when it's a bit quieter. Cranberry's fits into Merchant's City very well, and unfortunately so does its prices, which are a tad steep for regular dining. However it's certainly worth it if you're looking to impress or just enjoy a different, more upmarket, kind of dining. Rounding it off is the lovely building which appears modern but maintains its traditional atmosphere, too. A lovely place to go.

A Delight! by ONscotland

Review by ONscotland

Rating: 5.00
Tags:
Cranberry's is located in Glasgow's resurgent Merchant City, an area awash with restaurants, bars and trendy shops. Happily, Cranberry's concentrates on traditional food, and although it's in a modern building, had gone for a more traditional look, but avoids looking old fashioned.

I had Haggis, Neeps and Tatties, (Neeps is mashed turnip, tatties is mashed potatoes) - a traditional Scottish dish and it was really delicious. I won't describe Haggis here, suffice to say that it tastes better than it sounds! My friend had a simple smoked salmon salad, but the sheer generosity of the portions made it really stand out as did the avoidance of rocket in the salad!

A wide variety of puddings included large slices of Apple and Blueberry Pie, lemon torte and various tray bakes.

The service was very friendly, what struck me most was that the place ran like clockwork. It was interesting just to take a step back and watch how the staff went about their jobs, and the teamwork that went with it.

I had a great lunch in Cranberry's, it was by far my favourite venue in Glasgow.
