tasty food at reasonable prices by boxinghefner

Review by boxinghefner

Rating: 4.00
Tags:
what's great about Red Veg is a) the food is good and filling b) it is only slightly more expensive than standard fast food fair and c) it's located in a prime location, in Soho. On the downside, there is not enough room in the resturant to swing a cat, let alone seat more than six customers, meaning that Red Veg is a must during 'off-peak' times (which most times are at Red Veg).

the wonders of a non meat burger by mazphd

Review by mazphd

Rating: 3.00
Tags:
I'm a pescatarian (eats fish, no meat) so it's been a while since i've chowed down on a burger. Plus i'm on a super healthy kick at the moment, but that didn't stop me from calling into Red Veg when last i was in london town.

Now call me food picky, but this place is a little on the greasy side. The veg / bap burgered combo tends to slip n slide off its 'grease proof' paper and becomes more bap rather than bean as you chow down. (I mean that they are on the mean side of generous with their fillings).

But i'm giving Red Veg 3 stars as the staff were super nice, the place is super clean (should be with all that burger grease) and unlike McD's the Kings of Burger world here one can opt out of Moo meat, and be rewarded by the sweet aroma of beany delights. And i mean in a flavourisome way, rather than a particularly whiffy windy pop.

So prepare to 'put a cork in it' for later, the burgers here are a safe stable alternative from Mc Greasy, but they could do more with fillings and inspiration for the menu.

A mediocre, could do better, like what you're doing so far three stars.

In Communist Russia, Burgers Eat You by thamshere

Downsides are that they don't seem to stay open very late (no after-pub drunken burger antics), preparation can take quite a while (everything's cooked to order) and the burgers are often overly oily.

However, it's not meat, it's not Burger King and it's definitely not McDonalds, so that's a good win on three counts.

It was somewhat of a novelty with its "Marxist" imagery, cheap tasty food, and never-smiling staff.

But testament to its greatness its still going, and a couple of weeks ago I even got a smile ;)

It serves up relatively cheap veggie fast food - originally only burgers and chips etc. but now has expanded to salads and pastas. Still I'd stick with the basics. They have a small eat in area, or you can take away and eat in Soho Square around the corner.

Drinks are cheaper in the Tesco Metro across the road.
