My absolute favourite pub in Brighton and there are a lot of them (pubs that is)!
Off the beaten track so you can get away from the hen and stag nights, this pub is an absolute gem. The atmosphere is warm and friendly with a complete mix of age groups. the basketmakers is just a perfect pub, tucked away in the North Lane just waiting to welcome you in - voted best pub in brighton by those in the know!

its got a great range of beers, changing real ales and whiskey, plus all the usual drinks

The home cooking is brilliant, you have to try both the meat and the veggie burgers, cricket ball size stuffed into a bun, they are absolutely delicious

as well as burgers, they have sandwiches and light meals plus larger meals too

I've been using this pub since 2000 and it is simply one of the best in Brighton (if you like your pubs traditional yet hip, quiet yet lively, cheap yet full of quality).

One of the key indicators is the fact that many of the staff, while fairly young, have been there for that whole period.

The place is jukebox and fruit-machine-free with just low-key, eclectic music and a constant buzz of conversation and laughter. The menu is well-priced, well (and freshly) cooked and, again, has rarely changed in all the time I've known the place.

A lovely pub with nice, good value food and a great selection of beers. I love this pub. One thing to explore if you visit is the huge collection of tins stuck to the walls - people leave jokes, messages, whatever in them.
