Actually being able to visit the House of Commons and the House of Lords was amazing. The two rooms actually look smaller in real life than they do on TV! There is a lot of history in the houses of parliament which is interesting. You can also go and see real debates going on in real life as well! But be prepared some of the topics can be a bit dull. There are tours which are good although I went with a group and so not on a tour. The buildings are beautiful and I would definitely recommend visiting this place.

Tour by oneandonly

You get a tour of the victoria tower, through to the queens robing room, royal gallery, house of lords and commons and a few others places I can't remember! It takes more than an hour so make sure you've got the energy! It is probably worth booking in advance to guarantee getting on a tour at the time you'd like.

Scheduled a 9:30 tour which was a great idea, no lines that early. They recommended being there 30 minutes early, but I'd say 15 minutes is OK if you're there for the first tour in the morning. Our tour guide was excellent (and fresh, since it was her first of the day). Tour takes about 90 minutes with almost no breaks to sit, so be prepared. The whole family enjoyed the tour, even my 14 year old found plenty to be interested in. A fine cafe is there at the end of the tour. Would strongly recommend!
