Using our London Pass (excellent if planning a busy trip) we could use the group entrance even though there was just the two of us, instead of the 30 minute wait at the main entrance. Itâ¬"s hard to imagine there being a quiet day so leave plenty of time to take in the whole place, especially for the Crown Jewels exhibit. Having never been before, I was concerned it would be more museum-esq with lots of boards to read which my partner would quickly tire of, but it is much more interactive than that. I especially enjoyed all the 300 year old â¬Sgraffitiâ¬

Now that I am older I appreciated it more. Better still, they now seem to have really tried to set things up for the kids and my kids did really enjoy it. We managed to get a guided tour with a Beefeater and it is really recommended to do so because they tell you all sorts of little details and point out things that you would normally never had noticed. We all thought that the Crown Jewels were amazing and it took me ages to convince my kids that the queen herself actually wears them on special occasions. There were also many interactive displays which helped everyone learn about the history of the tower. Some of the best bits were the re-enactments that occurred at various places with people dressed up in period costume re-enacting some element from history within the grounds of the Tower. Fantastic day out for the family.

The incredible amount of history crammed into the place is mind boggling and utterly fascinating. From the early days of the Norman takeover of England to the housing of Nazi's in WW2, the Tower has seen everything.

There are massive collections of weapons and armour from all periods of history. One of the most impressive is the armour worn by Henry VIII.

The Jewels are incredible to see in person and well worth the time it takes for the floor to move you past them!

I recommend the guided tours. Not only do you get to see a big chunk of the tower but you get to hear the stories of what has happened there.

At the end of the day you might want to sit in the courtyard, catch your breath and take in all the history surrounding you, it's worth it!

It was a little expensive to get in and since the tower the closing soon, I only had an hour inside. I went into the Bloody Tower and thought it was cool inside. Make sure you go up in at least one tower while you are there. I found the crown jewels amazing. There was a short line to get in. You can't take pictures of the jewels and you are on a conveyer belt when you go by them. They were very pretty anyways. If you want more information on them, buy a book in the gift shop, that's what I did. The Tower of London is a beautiful structure and a piece of history, so I suggest you visit it. It is very interesting for both adults and children. Just be sure to give yourself a lot of time so you don't miss anything and beware of what time the tower closes!

I found everything really interesting and the walking certainly tired out my younger siblings - be prepared to do lots of walking here and walking up lots of stairs.
It is in a good central location, and although not cheap, I don't consider it expensive as it is a whole day of activities.
Take advice from the other people that have said buy your tickets in advance, you'll regret it otherwise!

Experience England's illustrious (and infamous?) history and see upclose the crown jewels.

Join the free Yeoman Warder Tour and find out how many English heads are beheaded in and around the Tower of London. The guide is very informative and very entertaining with their sense of humour. You will learn a lot more about the towers and the tales behind them in the tower by following this one-hour tour. Well worth the time.

Also, look out for the ravens in the grounds of the tower. They are a "permanent" feature there for centuries!

It has played such a crucial role in english history that it would be a true shame for anyone to visit the uk and not have a look. However like most london attractions it can become a bit crowded and the prices are very steep. I would suggest searching the internet to pre book your tickets, as you can save money and jump the ques. I would also suggest bringing your own food as the cafe is the usual overpriced sandwhichs and coffees and is jam packed with people.

Tower of london a must see !!! by mummyno4

Review by mummyno4

Rating: 5.00
Tags:
We visited the tower of London in the summer holidays last year. We found it very exciting and interesting as there were many activities such as performances and quizzes (you get one at the pay desk opposite the tower). One of the most interesting things was the kings and queens jewels as when you went in there , there was a scene that told you about the jewels and the people who wore them. As everyone knows there is limited parking spaces in London so it is best if you take the train the station is quite close to entrance of the tower.

There is a lot of information about the displays and there are very clear descriptions regarding each individual one. It was very busy when me and my family went to the tower and so we got pushed around a lot. Although I do think older children would be fine with this, younger ones may get frustrated. We found that the gift shops were very expensive and we were not able to purchase many of the souvenirs. All the staff (beef eaters and actors) were very kind and sufficient . We managed to see plenty of the infamous ravens, one of the children even tried to catch the ravens

Whilst we were there we had lunch, we brought our own lunch which I am glad we did as the cafés were really busy and the tables were all full so we ate our lunch on the benches This enabled us to watch one of the plays which entailed two men in armour fighting each other with swords. The children loved it, they began to cheer them on as they fought for the princess (the swords were real but no one got hurt as they were professionally trained).
