Review by stitch

Rating: 5.00
Tags:
I have visited the Science Museum on several occassions with many family members, with ages varying from 86 to 18 months old. All have had a fantastic day out and all have learned a huge amount of interesting information on the world around us.

The highlight for hte children in the Lauch Pad, an interactive area that is educational and fun for both adults and children alike. there are many hands on exhibits and demonstrations avaliable with the friendly and knowledgeable staff and assistants.

The restaurants are well equiped and offer healthy food at fair prices. There is a large shop with lots of fun and educational gifts and collectibles.

Overall the science museum is a must for all ages. You will not regret a visit.

We had to literally drag her out from there. If you only have about two to three hours, go to the Launchpad on the 3rd floor first. The kids will having an amazing time trying out all sorts of hands-on experiments. he most fun for us was completing electrical circuits. My daughter was really chuffed to see the bulbs light-up and the bells ringing. She had so much fun there that we couldn't even go to any of the other floors.

The Science Museum now holds a collection of over 300,000 items including Stephensonâ¬"s rocket and Babbageâ¬"s computer and so much more. If in south Kensington for day well worth a visit along with the Victoria and Albert museum and natural history museum al within walking distance of one another. All the museums are free but I always give a contribution of about 15 pounds for the family. A recent addition is the IMAX 3D Cinema showing science and nature documentaries, some of them in 3-D, and the Wellcome Wing which focuses on digital technology. A must for all Londoners.

The museum is located on Exhibition Road in South Kensington, easily accessible by car or tube, and is one of Londonâ¬"s biggest attractions. Itâ¬"s a great place to visit with children, there are dozens of exhibits geared towards a younger audience, and it can be a really fun day out for the children. However thereâ¬"s still a lot to enjoy for adults too, and you can literally spend hours walking around. Best of all, entrance is free, so thereâ¬"s really no excuse not to go and visit the museum!

As well as that, there is a gigantic play room in the basement with all kinds of sciency stuff aimed at keeping the kids entertained. Entry to the whole museum is free. It can get very busy in school holidays and weekends so be warned, but it's still well worth it. The shop too is great, loads of books and souvenirs to take home.

Not Just For Kids ............... by Bigun

There are so many interactive displays to play with (and itâ¬"s not just for the kids to play with!) and basically there is something for all your family members to get interested in.

Also, all the displays are very informative where you can learn how things work or operate. And better still, it is free admission for all the family.

Probably the greatest section is the IMAX 3D cinema which is a real experience as it shows you a virtual 3D movie which makes you feel like you are the person there in the movie at the time. So as they jump off a cliff on a parachute, you actually feel like you are doing it.

The only advice I was given when I went was to take your own refreshments because the cost of refreshments inside is very expensive.

We went in early June primarily to see the Pixar exhibit which was fee paying.

We then spent a few hours getting a taste of the rest of the museum. You can never pack the entire museum in one visit.

The basement has fun activities for younger children, and our kids had a great time.

We then visited some of the exhibits regarding the development of flight and some models of the early trains. You can see the the Stephenson's Rocket, the world's first train.

If you have children then this is an opportunity for them to see science come alive.
