It's great to see an independent cinema thriving in the sea of multiplexes and chains in the west end. Tickets start from about 1 pound 50 here which a heck of a lot cheaper than the Odeon round the conner. The movies always tend to be older or cult release that have finished their run in the bigger cinemas. I sometimes go here with friends when I am out in London as it is nearly always showing a good film despite only having one screen. Also the seats are great and really comfortable. I love the Prince Charles Cinema. Cheap, very cheerful and old school in every way, they've even got jumbo seats. It shows 4 different films every day, they've usually been out a while, and it gives me an opportunity to catch all the ones I missed when they first came out on the big screen. There's a little bar, so, should you fancy, you can have a drink while you watch your film. They do the singalonga stuff which isn't really my scene, but lots of people seem to like it. They often have very good Q&A and charity documentary screenings too. I've been to more events at the PCC than I have movies, but it's always a funky place to be.

I've witnessed Kevin Smith doing a Q&A as well as a screening and Q&A for Depeche Mode's "101" when it came out on DVD.

For films, the place is a wonderful find in the west end. Excellent list of art house films that change daily, and if you're a member they're only £1.50. Try to find value like that anywhere else in the west end.

Only downside is the seats aren't sloped, so if you have a tallie ahead of you, you don't really have the benefit of being above him.

The Prince Charles Cinema is a fantastic institution: a West End cinema where a ticket to an afternoon showing costs a mere £1.50 (for members - a year's membership costing a very reasonable £9), and the most expensive standard tickets (evening shows for non-members) are £4.50. Films usually come out at the Prince Charles a couple of months after they're on at other cinemas.
