A great venue to watch the football, and a huge beer garden helps to draw in the punters. The food is just above wetherspoons standards, and the pool table is terribly expensive at £1.50 a game, but the beer is pretty good and they have a fantastic selection of drinks available. Food wise be careful...stay away from the baked potatoes as they can be hard, but generally its acceptable grub to fill that beer belly!

It is a very open and friendly pub with a good selection of drink as well as food. There are a few pool tables and generally everyone is in high spirits. A couple of criticisms that I would have is that the prices tend to be a bit more expensive that some of the other pubs in the area, but not by much. Also the music can be a little loud at times. However, my overall experience is definately a positive one and I would recommend it to anyone.

Bearing in mind the fact that it was specifically a Real Ale pub and usually had a selection of half a dozen or so from which to choose, the conversation with the barmaid went along the lines of:

What'll you have?
6 pints of IPA please
We've run out
OK, Caledonian 80/- then
Sorry, we've none left
Golden Promise?
Afraid not
Landlord?
Sorry, no
OK, what real ale do you have then?
None actually, we've run out of them all!
OK, we'll have 6 pints of lager then
Sorry, we've run out of lager ........

After that exchange, somewhat reminiscent of Monty Python's Cheese Shop sketch, for some reason we stopped going there for a while!

But I've started going again and although it gets very studenty the later it gets, early evenings are fine. And they stop serving food about 8pm.

It's got a big, well, playground really, outside with tables and a recently constructed 64 seater glass-roof-covered outdoor smoking annexe (there is no smoking in any Scottish pubs these days - hurrah!)
