Tucked away at the bottom of a dilapidated building in which no squatter is even to be seen, this small Argentinean restaurant on rue Volta is quite the highlight of the quartier. I had reserved a table on behalf of some friends and was in the area early so decided to check it out. I took a peek through its wide glass windows and was instantly put off by the cold clinical feel to the place. It was deserted, seemed excessively white and was adorned with what looked like 100 year old alcohol bottles burried in spider webs (which on hindsight is not necessarily a bad thing right?). The only welcome I received was from three austere B&W photographs of some mysterious Argentinean folks. I was honestly tempted to cancel the dinner, but with no alternatives in sight, I decided to keep quiet on this occasion. I took some air until it was dinner time. Half an hour later, I came back to what seemed like a totally different restaurant. The tables were swarming with people, and their presence injected a colourful rainbow into the atmosphere. I was stunned. It made me go all poetic.<br /><br />From then on, things only got better. Friends arrived. And maybe more importantly, the food did too&#33;&#33; OH THE FOOD&#33;&#33; Argentinean meat is known for a reason. And the reason is simple: it is probably the best tasting meat in the world. That theory was more than verified that evening. Best steaks of my life. Period. Big phat QED at the end.<br /><br />Personal recommendations: Go for the "lomo". No idea what that stands for. All you need to know is that it&#39;s a thick, juicy, and tender piece of meat that your taste buds are gonna fight each other for. Wine wise, I even jotted it down: try the deliciously fruity red Chilean "Santa digna" Cabarnet Sauvignon 2003. Even the green salad that accompanies the meat is worth writing about. I don&#39;t know what they put in that vinaigrette but it sure is special.<br /><br />If you go to Paris and are a fan of exceptionally good steaks, you HAVE GOT to give this place a go.<br /><br />*. for I will never miss your steaks again on a visit to Paris.. (yeah this place is worth getting all cheesy over..)<br /><br />]]></description>
