Down to Earth? by stantoncarlisle

For some reason the superb Bumblebee isn't listed on this database. Whatta shame - Bumblebee is less flashy than Fresh'n'Wild - really good prices and great products. Was one of the first and best Wholefood, Natural Healthfood shops in London and is still easily one of the best. Earth has some of the old staff from Bumblebee. The layout is choppy for starters they have all the vegetables in the window - bad idea - they wilt and go off quickly. I found it a tad ramshackle and misleading. Probably because it was hard to get help - find bags etc. I've been in loads of times and some of the staff have a decidedly w-e-i-r-d attitude - they think they're on stage or worse still - waiting to be discovered by some celeb that walks in. Makes you feel a bit strange. On the whole it's a little pricey - you can get the same goods up the road at Bumblebee's without any of the attitude and a bit cheaper with more bargain boxes to boot. Despite that a welcome addition to the area although it may push other local, smaller wholefood places to the wall.

Food Treats by LOVEANDKATE

Yes it is shockingly expensive for some goods like all organic shops are. But, if you're clever and have the time you can sucessfully combine shopping here with other stores and still win price wise.

They often have a reduced basket near the tea section and a reduced bread shelf opposite the cereals.

I tend to buy non fresh product here such as cordials, preserves, sauces and tinned goods that will change the taste of my cooking and may sit in my kitchen cupboard for a while to be used more than once.

I do, however treat myself at their cheese counter where the assistant is very knowledgable and helpful.

Its the choice that I like, I enjoys seeing product that is unfamiliar and that I want to try. i like reading the labels and I feel that it is a learning experience every time I visit.

I also like the fact that it is on my doorstep and stepping inside always means a food treat!!

Another Kentish Town Gem by sokratis

The street is teaming with small independent shops, pubs and some top notch food shops.
The most recent of those is Earth Natural Foods. It complements Phoenicia extremely well. Although it lacks a butcher's it does offer an incredible variety of organic fruit and vegetables, fresh bread, home-made takeaways, oils, dried fruits, organic wines and beers, artisan cheeses, dairy produce, toiletries, plus loose teas, coffees, nuts, seeds, beans, grains, herbs and spices'. The nuts selection is great and they are offered in big sacks where you can mix and match just like the spices across the room.
The place is not the cheapest, especially in some categories, but the amount of choice and quality offered make it well worth a visit.
