They have the most humongous chips! They define home-made and resemble the potatoes from which they came. The staff are cheery and truly there to help. I found the crowd to be very diverse and the atmosphere was excellent for a long catch up.

My friend ordered the sausage and mash, and wow they are the biggest sausages Iâ¬"ve ever seen ⬠the portions are huge here, well worth every penny. The place is nicely furnished, and I would assume the hotel would be above average ⬠but then I am not sure since Iâ¬"ve never been a customer.

But I really do recommend those chips⬦

As good a local pub as you could wish for. A cavernous pub, with a large central bar, 4 separate seating areas including an open-kitchen dining room at the back which doubles as a space for bands/DJs/Spoken Word/Comedy Nights. Even when very busy it doesn't feel crowded. A Grade 2 listed interior, lovingly restored about 5 years ago by the company who run the Rosemary Branch down by the canal on southgate road N1. With chesterfields aplenty, green leather banquettes, booths, open fires, strange taxidermy, big windows, ornate ironwork, a carefully selected jukebox, lovely staff and a great selection of beers and wines not from the big brewers (try Litovel Classic for a great lager and sample an everchanging selection of Ales) this is a wonderul place for a night out or for a curl-up with a paper on a saturday afternoon. No TV screens, but a good kitchen - food can be a bit hit and miss and sunday lunch can take a while to arrive, but at it's best it is marvellous.
