Bhangra Beat Restaurant Drury Lane is centrally located in London´s Covent Garden area, near ´theatre land´ and is a contemporary modern Indian restaurant with its own bar.
From amongst the starters expect to see some old friends, such as Alu Papri Chat, served cold on a lettuce bed and the splendid Bhangra platter for 1 or 2, and the ever faithful prawns on puri (delightfully spicy prawns on soft crispy puri bread)
Such is the impact of the Balti influence from Kashmir that most Indian restaurants nowadays offer a Balti section and Bhangra is no exception. Amongst the dishes are Afghan chicken, sweet, sour and hot with Chana Dhal; Peshwari Chicken, mild with coconut, almond, yogurt and cream - underlining the fact that Balti dishes can be as mild as other Indian cuisines.
Amongst the house specials look for the King Prawn Jungle Curry, king prawns in a rich fish stock with ginger, chilli and coriander, or the Lal Jhal, chicken fillets cooked with mustard ginger, honey, coconut and chillies, a hot little number guaranteed to fire you up!
At Bhangra they join with the wonderful extras of side dishes, rice and sundries and breads to ensure that your visit for a meal is a constant process of choice, balance and sheer enjoyment.
Chef´s Speciality Dish:
Nagari Duck
Slices of roasted duck with pineapple and honey delicious!
