Tucked away on a flora-lined street close to Southwark tube, this is a great value restaurant with the option to dine 'al fresco'(with heat lamps) or in their cavernous restaurant - so usually no need to book in advance. Part of the Tas chain of Turkish restaurants, it has a varied menu, including great value set lunches, dinners and meze to share. Desserts are less exciting but I do like the baklava. Service is attentive even when busy though occassionaly we have been brought the wrong dishes! This is three outlets in one - a deli and cafe kind of place, a posher restaurant and a relaxed bar, all under railway arches, making for arched ceilings and intersting decor. In the deli, the bread is amazing and the three-salad plate of freshly prepared turkish foods are delicious and good value (I worked my way pretty much down the whole counter!). They also do takeaway and various interesting Turkish groceries. I have also eaten in the restaurant, which was good, but not that much better than the cheaper venues next door, and the bar. In summer, you can sit outside in a pretty pedestrian street. Located under a railway arch and off the main road (the cut), it is much more romantic and has a better atmosphere than the other Tas restaurant around the corner which is generally more full. If you sit outside on a sunny day, you will be surrounded by beautiful plants although it's pretty good inside aswell - it feels like you're in a nice cave. On some nights, they have a guy playing a guitar, good, authentic background music!

They have a pretty good menu here, there are a few set menus. The Ev and Deniz are good for trying some of the starters but if you share the Deniz between 2 people, that's enough to fill you up! Apart from that, they have fish, meat, veggie and pasta dishes to choose from.

I've tried Incik which was absolutely delicious the first time I had it and average the second time (don't know why!!).

I've also had Patlican soslu kuzu kapama which is grilled aubergine puree with cashar cheese topped with oven cooked lamb. It was definitely an interesting dish! The puree was smooth and rich, slightly sweet and the lamb was meltingly tender. I'm not used to the flavours but I'm glad I tried it.

The kalamar dolmasi (stuffed squid) wasn't very good. The squid was pretty rubbery and there was nothing special about the filling. I don't usually get to the dessert stage and still be hungry so I haven't tried any of the desserts here.

After dinner, you should have a drink (or two) in the bar area. The bar is a nice room, there's even a water feature! The deli next door is worth visiting aswell. It would be easy to miss this place but such a shame.
