There's a bit of a dearth of good, reliable places to eat around Oval and while the Lavender isn't amazing, it's consistently good, reasonably priced and has the feel of a little local secret. There's an extensive menu of pizzas, pasta dishes and calzone (they do take-away as well), and a daily specials menu which can usually be relied upon for something filling and fresh. The service isn't always great, but it is friendly.
