Never again by Circassian

Review by Circassian

Rating: 1.00
Tags:
I am curious to know in which part of Anatolia, traditionally people are supposed to have pide (turkish pizza) with sardines, apricot, artichoke and aubergine!!! A menu not only bizarre but also bland and tasteless. We had to wait for 1.5 hr for our main course, at the end we were faced with a pide that I am sure would have been thrown at their faces if it was served in Turkey. This place is a disgrace to Turkish pide culture. Any back street pide place in Hackney will offer more tasty food and with much cheaper prices. Spend what you save on a cab back home instead. Avoid this restaurant if you know anything about Turkish food or been to Turkey before, it will be a disappointment.

Horrible Experience by comedytragedy

I was very excited when I entered this beautiful restaurant, but it all went downhill from there. Our table was ignored for a good ten minutes. No big deal, eventually we ordered some drinks. Then the server disappeared once again. We thought it was bit odd that we hadn't gotten any bread, but then we thought perhaps it wasn't complimentry. By the end of the nightmare we learned that not only was the bread complimentry, but so were a small pot of olives and some dipping sauce, none of which we ever received. We asked for some water and after the second attempt actually got some. We finally got the attention of one server and were able to order. Our starters came and we thought things might be on the up. One of the starters had a hair in it. This is not unforgivable, but the response of the staff was. They didn't seem too concerned and acted as though we were fussy for not wanting other people's hair in our food. The manager did replace the dish. At this point the staff were all glaring at us a bit too much. A server whisked away the plates from our starters the second we finished, saying our mains were ready. Great! Finally something a bit speedy. No, wrong again. The mains were not with us for another quarter of an hour. They were warm enough and ok, almost. One them was missing an egg. When we got a server (which took some doing) he said he had to check. Check? Check what, that there was no egg? After several minutes he grabbed our original server, a less than pleasant man, and had discussion. At last with many nasty looks they swept the plate away without a word. When we asked the manager what was going on, he thought it satisfactory to waive the service charge (which we weren't going to pay at this point) and offer some free coffee to make up for the poor service and dull food. Eventually we got the dish back, but it was dried out and inedible. When we tried to get our bill, so we could leave the harsh looks of the entire staff, this was a mission. It arrived with all the charges. We asked them to correct it, but this took three attempts. The manager then tapped the table and sighed, looking at his watch. He then counted the money to make sure we paid it all. We told them this was a very unpleasant experience and they simply shrugged. NEVER again.

You have your choice of mezze or of the pides, essentially the Turkish version of pizza. The lentil soup served at the beginning of every meal sets the perfect tone and they wait staff are usually quite attentive. Do give yourself plenty of time though, as this isn't a place that you can rush in and out of.
