I had avoided it for years, it previously had a bad reputation in the area for atrocious service, however i am very pleased to say that is now no longer true. The staff were friendly, approachable and couldn't do enough to make us happy. There is a relatively large choice of meals and several specials on the boards so everyone will be happy with the choices available. The food is delicious and although not cheap, well worth it. If i were you, forget the previous reputation and give it a try!

Small Blackboard written menu that always has something for everyone, great wine and lovely ambience.

You can't book tables so it means you have to turn up early but then you can always have a drink at the bar.

If there is a fault it is that the tables are crammed in and it can get too busy but after a couple of drinks you don't realise.

Even the service which was notorious about 2/3 years ago is now very strong. Can't recommend highly enough.

Excellent West London Gastropub by sue

So when we needed somewhere to go for lunch one weekend, and happened to be in the area, it seemed like the perfect time to try it out for myself.

The pub is located in a residential street, with renovated coloured terraces and beautiful blossom trees. It is just the type of local you would want. Friendly and cosy, huge comfy sofa by the fire place and a small dining area dishing up fabulous food. No reservations are taken, so get there early.

We arrived around 12.30pm and were in luck - a nice little table was available for us. We took a seat and checked out the blackboard menu while munching on the complimentary fresh-baked bread. Service was friendly and relaxed and the atmosphere was great.

I decided on the Fish & Chips, with Mushy peas. It was tasty and perfect for lunch. My husband, as usual, ordered the most delicious thing on the menu - the Roast Gloucester Old Spot Pork Belly, with mustard mash, savoy cabbage and apple sauce. The pork just melted in your mouth. We shared a dessert - the Sticky Date Pudding, with Butterscotch sauce and Vanilla ice-cream. MMmmmm...it was one of the best I have had, the sauce being particularly good.

Quality quality fresh ingredients. You cannot book :(. It is also a v. cozy, real fire warmed, quality beer fuelled pub. There's a few dodgy geezers at the bar, probably chatting to a barrister and BBC exec.

The one problem is the weekends. It is 1) very busy and 2) you get a few too many Nathan Barely types.
