I went to Rochelle Kitchen in the summer and I had a truly wonderful time! It is a converted bike shed which opens up into the playground when the weather is warm. It really is a magnificent restaurant! The staff here is so lovely, they really make you feel welcome when you arrive, they have been equally wonderful every time I have been back. The menu is good, although not great for vegetarians. However there are several options to choose from. The food tastes delicious and you do get a good quantity of food. What a fantastic place to have a unique meal! A few of my friends have been here before and I have heard rave reviews from elsewhere so I could not wait to try out the delights they have on offer here. Gaining entry is exactly how the other reviewers have stated. The only downside on the place is that I felt it was a little cold ⬠not just in temperature but in the intimacy and romance meaning as well. However the food is gorgeous! I also found Rochelles Canteen to be a bizarre place! The only negative for me is that i like to go to nice cosy romantic places with candlelight, which this isn't. I suppose i felt it was a little cold in that respect.However, and its a big however, i really enjoyed going here. The staff and the service are spot on and everything was there when we wanted it. The food was perfect timing from finishing once course to the serving of the next. Now this was a completely unusual place to go! I felt like i had to say the magic password to be let in, or perhaps it was like something out of harry potter with the magical entrance to the world of culinary arts! The food here is fantastic, i can't rate it highly enough. Maybe its the location or the way you enter the place but it was spot on in all respects! Quite a large choice of different things to eat, my partner's dish was also as tasty as mine (perhaps more so!). I had to laugh as i entered through the doorway after being buzzed in, we walked in and were seated in what appeared to be old bike sheds! This wasn't a disappointment however, it just added to the charm of Rochelle Canteen! I read about this place in Time Out magazine and just had to try it. The service here is quick and efficient yet friendly too. The waiting staff are definately earning their money! The food is delicious and you have a good choice to choose from. Lots of things to tantalise the tastebuds and all were delicious. A curious but charming restaurant that operates as the canteen for the next-door art studios, yet also happily accepts outside diners.

The small, stark, white premises are the former school bike sheds. Inside there are long white tables; outside, beside an immaculate lawn, are café tables. Service is warm and friendly but can be dippy. Note that the Canteen is unlicensed; BYO or sip on a ginger beer or apple juice. And remember to book: word has spread and Rochelleâ¬"s charms are no longer a secret.
