Best piece of Scandinavia in London! by rassami

Review by rassami

Rating: 5.00
Tags:
If you fancy a hot dog or some meatballs the Scandinavian way but don't want to trek to IKEA, then go for a Scandinavian immersion experience in Soho at Scandinavian Kitchen.

Staff are lovely, happy and friendly, and all speak the local lingo - be that Swedish/Danish/Norwegian or great English.

The food is 'the real stuff', what Scandinavians eat at home, everyday, and casually. You get both the Danish smorrebrod and the Swedish bite-sized open sandwiches with Swedish Kalles Kaviar, anchovies, crayfish, meatballs, roastbeef, and frikadeller.

To go with the coffee, thankfully you can choose from the Swedish 'black North Sea oil' stuff or the more delicate Monmouth coffee, you will find both chokladbollar (chocolate balls) and dammsugare (vacuum cleaners - cannot be explained, has to be experienced!).

And for any homesick Scandinavian, the cafe/restaurant is lined with goodies from home: filmjolk, Kalles, medvurst, nyponsoppa, Fazer and godis.
