The cellar is well kept and the real ales are local and change regularly. Time is spent making sure that the beer is well kept and is served properly.

The ambiance has the feel of a local pub downstairs and of a comfortable restaurant upstairs in the dining room. The whole pub feels friendly, welcoming and homely but without it being overpoweringly so. Ther are modern twists to the decor and the music is varied and often ecelctic. It is boho but a bit middle class.

The food is the jewel in the crown. The chef is fastidious about sourcing local in season ingredients, and the menu reflects that. To some it may be a challenging menu with starters like sweetbreads or brawn. For most the challenge is choosing between all of the things they really want to try as everything looks appealing.

This really is worth a try if you find yourselves in Bath, and the triple cooked goose fat chips with homemade mayo are even better than they sound.

Great locally sourced ingredients and a seasonal menu are lie at the heart of this menu - beautifully executed by Adie.

Local beers and a wine list that makes you faint with longing finish the experience.

Being autumn there is some great fresh game on offer at the moment and the deep fried rabbit is just something else.

If you're after a slightly lighter bite the bar food and in particular the Thomas Street burger is great
