Beautiful setting Beautiful eating by french_girl

Even when hot you can actually taste all the flavours not just feel a burning heat.

Well worth ordering fish and seafood dishes so that you can experience how to complement with spices rather than killing the flavour that you find with fish in many Indian restaurants.

Good mixture of british food and ingredients in their menus just approached with modern Indian freshness.

Cocktails are a must. Real luxury treat in the bar. Best I've even had.

And service is excellent, smooth knowlegable and polite.

The Cinnamon Club by Liz

Review by Liz

Rating: 3.00
Tags:
I have been dying to try this place for ages - I think it was good, but I expected more - perhaps I had hyped it up too much in my head. I started with some prawns. They were really tasty, not too much overpowering flavour, just right. For my main course I had the smoked lamb - it was delicious, but such a small portion (two small chops) - I was desperate for more. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the smoky taste rather delicate (as opposed to charcoal bbq flavours). For my desert I had their chocolate concoction which was very good. The service was good, the wine was good. The bill was very expensive, I don't think I would rush back (however that smoked lamb was a winner...) but the experience was a good one and I would recommend it.

If you go make time to have a drink at the bar first - I had a martini with vodka, lemongrass, chilli and watermelon. It was one of the best cocktails I have ever had, I could identify all the flavours and the combination was perfect.

Though it can be a place to be seen rather than eat as it is in the heart of the 'Westminster village' so you will probably be next to an MP or someone from TV. Don't let them put you off the food though. There are good deals to be had some days though it's always going to be an expensive event.

Very special Indian food by Sarah_W

I've been here three times and never been disappointed. The first was a splash-out meal for a friend's birthday, the others were more modest affairs when we took advantge of the restaurant's regular special deals. All three were absolutely excellent, both in terms of the food, the service, the setting - everything.

Talking of the setting, it's in an old library that was one of the first (possibly THE first) public libraries in London. Make sure you make time for a cocktail in the old reference library (to the left of the door as you enter) to get a small sense of the origins of the building, and raise your glass in a toast to those who had the foresight to make such great use of the library once it had outgrown its usefulness :)

I was fortunate enough to be in this position and duly had some of the best food ever made.

The sommelier (I love those dudes) recommended our third bottle to be a cheeky Swiss white (we trusted his taste by this point you see - as well as 'bloody loving him - you're my best mate you are') which, even after 2 previous bottles, I distincty remember as being wonderful.

Arrive at least an hour before your booking and go and have a superb cocktail in the basement bar.

Actually five stars; not like 'I love it' five stars, but like 'turn it up to eleven' five stars. You know like the Burj Al-Arab invented seven stars to differentiate it from the Paddington Hilton and the Delaware Ritz-Carlton. That sort of five stars.
