The Italian Food Hall is located in the building that used to be the Electricity Board showrooms in Crouch End Broadway. Little did I know when I was a child that I'd be eating Italian food in the place where my mum used to queue up to pay the fuel bills all those years ago.

I have eaten at the Italian Food Hall on a number of occasions now. Each time, I have found the service to be efficient and friendly and not 'in-yer-face'like some restaurants I've encountered.

The food served has been of excellent quality and very reasonably priced. £50 for a meal for two consisting of two coffees, starters, main courses, puddings, two beers, a bottle of house wine and two additional glasses of house red is not a high price to pay in my book for a good meal in a restaurant in London. I've paid a lot more for much worse in restaurants in Nottingham.

Iâ¬"ve found the Italian Food Hall to have a lively and vibrant atmosphere and it has been packed with diners and shoppers whenever I've visited it ⬠usually a very positive sign. Whenever I come back to Crouch End with my partner, we always visit the Italian Food Hall to have a meal and have always been very pleased with the service there and with the food.

this place is overpriced and their staff are painfully slow. Come customers had to walk up, ask fro a menu, and then walk up again to the waiters, and place their orders (Strange! I thought it's the waiter who should come to your table and take your order)...

The chain-smoking owner seemed to be the only satisfied customer there! 'What do you want me to do about it?' barked the oversized, over-aggressive, mafia-esque proprieter of this establishment. We had simply voiced a polite objection that one dish recevied was not as described on the menu. With an undignified swoop he snatched the dish away grunting dismissively that he would be 'charging us for it anyway'. The one main course we were left with was passable at best -the 'rare' steak more accurately described as medium/well-done. We left feeling somewhat cheated. I can only imagine that his business is doing exceedingly well as he blatantly does not reqiure return custom.

We went in there yesterday for a coffee instead of visiting Costa/Starbucks (like to support local businesses after all!). Was greated at the door by a miserable and surly proprietor who pointed us to a table. We had to wait about 5 mins for someone to give us a menu.

We ordered 2 coffees and 2 eggs benedict (about £18). The coffee was ok but the benedict was dry and the sauce did not taste like hollandaise (what little there was) - it had been put under the grill and set so there was no delicious sauce. The waiter asked us if everything was ok so I gave him some feedback, he snarled and said "we put it under the grill". I told him again that this had dried everything up and he repeated that they always put the sauce under the grill then stormed off.

This looked like a great bustling place, full of lovely deli items and unusual pastas. this place used to be an electrical shop and now it is an italian cafe which moved up from hornsey road.

i just paid £2.25 for a coffee and £4.50 for a piece of chocolate cake.

i am outraged and would advise you not to go there. the coffee was okay, the cake was both oversweet and overpriced.
