Spuds is always the go to place for people coming out of the M Club or laverys after 1am when they are looking for some food. But believe me you will regret eating here the next morning if you could remember what it was like. It is the grubbiest take away i have ever seen and it only received 1 star for hygiene through the government regulated "Scores on the Doors" scheme. Ok you could say its ultimately about the food and not just the decor but even the food is awful. My rule of thumb is usually if a restaurant has to show its food on pictures, it should generally be avoided. There are numerous other places to eat just opposite (including a brand new burger bar!). I would avoid Spuds like the plague! When you go in, its full of flies all over the place, worse on a hot day!! It looks like they never clean the floor or any of the counters so i dont honestly know how they are still in business! The food is quite cheap & a lot of people stumble in here late at night for a quick bite after coming out of the pub! They usually have a lot of offers on baked potatoes with various toppings but in my experience these have always been swimming in grease! Maybe good for students on a budget but the place reeks of potential food poisoning! I dont know anyone who has gone here who has said the food is actually nice! Has a lot of other nearby food places so this to me would really be a last resort! Unhygenic, greasy & smelly! I wish I could give this place a good review as it's cheap and in a good spot especially if you are stumbling out of Laverys bar. On a cold, rainy day in Belfast, what can be more heartening than a steaming hot, tasty, filling baked potato? The baked potatoes you can get here come with all the fillings you might expect: baked beans, bacon, cheese, saute mushrooms. The service is of the no nonsense variety, which is part of the charm of this Belfast institution.
