Classic gastro-pub but with a little extra TLC. On a couple of occassions my ozzie relatives befriended the owner, who was friendly and welcoming.

A nice low key feel, with an odd assortment of old wooden tables that adds to the homely atmosphere. There is little drinking room in The Butchers Hook, so almost everyone is there to eat. The little drinking space that remains is quite civilised.

Some of their specialities include pot roasted game, creamy risottos and an assortment of deserts including rather a good apple crumble that is served on a mini baking pan...an extra scoop of rum and raisin ice cream doesn't go amiss...All in all, food I would return for.

Butchers Hook is one of the best drinking establishments in the vacinity, it has very helpfull and friendly staff, and a fantasticly varied menue of good quality food.The Chocolate Fondant was exceptional.
