I have really enjoyed reading the reviews for this place over the past few weeks. Seldom do you get such 'Review Tennis' going on.It's a bit like marmite - great fun to read- keep it up!!

It is clear that there is definitely some negative campaigning going here which is a shame. Here is a way to settle the argument - why not read the glowing review by Daily Record - simple!

Anyway - I went on Tuesday night after a very strong recommendation from my work colleagues - the disappointing thing is that I never even got in the door as the place was packed. There was a real buzz and it was a shame that we were too hungry to wait - so we went to another place where there two waiters and one table (It really makes you think)

Tried again on Thursday - this time got a table withing 15mins. Here goes...

First impressions - professionally run and slick, plenty of staff and customers - overall a good buzz

Menu - a little on the short side. They don't do Sagg (my husbands fav - should have seen his face) but simple and to the point.

Service - good service througout the course of dinner. staff are warm and friendly...that's always been the case for this place.

Food - Very nice - love the fact that there is no food colouring - at last!!

What I didn't like:
1 - No lunches available. only open in evenings
2 - Can't book a table unless ' it is for a large party'
3 - Being busy all the time(and then not being able to book) has its disadvantages
4 - Music a little too on the loud side for me.

I think hamiltonboy was right - suspicious that after every negative review 2 postive appear immediately - and again by the same people reviewing twice - if the last entry(abby 12351 - catchy name) is not a marketing attempt i don't know what is.

This place looks like a restaurant, feels like a restaurant and you eat as if you are in a restaurant. No small cafe feel here. Looking forward to my next Lamb Rushundean!

Note to CurryMan: Looking for Nans? There are at least 4 different varities of nan on their menu i think (cant find the menu now). And did the staff tell you that roti which is not on the menu is back by popular demand? This place is what my husband and i have been looking for as we find the treck into Glasgow rather arduous. The decor is fabulous, the food is tasty and the staff are very friendly. Its very refreshing to see women in an indian restaurant. We counted 3 but wondered how many more they have in the kitchen! I had to make a comment. After seeing the positive ratings I visited this establishment.
"PROPER INDIAN FOOD" is the term, but where are the Nans, the Chapatis, the Prathas. With a lacklustre choice of currys how can it be Proper Indian food when most Indian food is not even served.
Décor is nice, very cafe/diner like and the food matches this image I guess. If you want proper Indian food, go to SPICE nearby, if you want good food go to Bombay cottage.
If you just want a quick snack this cafe is OK but the choice of food is on par with a chippie.

I walk in for a carry out and say to the waiter " I am ceoliac...etc etc" Normally, in all the restaurants I have ever been in, it is up to me to describe what that condition is and what types of food I should avoid.

Before I started my normal descriptive routine, the waiter confirmed what his understanding of the condition is (which was spot on) [impressed].

Then he went on to explain exactly what I could / couldn't have with clarity and precision. [Very impressed]

So I placed my order and when he returned from the kitchen, he showed me the flour being used which was clearly labelled "this is for your peace of mind" he said....[never been so impressed]

I have been eating out for so long, but not often enough since being diagnosed with ceoliac disease, and I have never experienced this level of knowledge / service from waiting staff.

Needless to say, the food was brilliant - but the service - more than 5 stars.

I have been since recommending Mushtaqs to members of the Ceoliac Society. http://www.coeliac.org.uk

To be fair Charilie_beat - you started this childish squabble - posting a 5 star review twice in the period of 1 week does clearly skew the ratings.

I also visited the reatuarant and can assure you am not an envious competitior as you accused hamiltonboy of being.

Everything was average - not as bad as hamilton boy makes out but definately not 5 star as some reviewers have given.

Went to restaurant last weekend - usually go to another place locally but thought would try something different.

Service ok - had to ask several times for drinks, food was luke warm and lamb a little tough.

Decor was very cold - good if you like that kind of thing - we didn't.
