Situated on what always seems to be the sunniest corner in Brighton The Regency has something for everyone's tastes.

From great simply starters like prawns and avocado to something a little more special like oysters parmigiano The Regency always delivers.

Built originally as the seaside house of the chap who founded Coutts bank The Regency was the house his wife always wanted overlooking the sea in which to eat her favourite meal of prawns.

Now run as a family concern the restaurant is the oldest fish restaurant in Brighton, has featured in films, retains it's original features inside and is run by people who always welcome you with a smile.

I have been to the Regency countless times now. The place has a lovely atmosphere, especially sat outside in the sun over looking the west pier and the beautiful houses of regency square. There are so many seafood restaurants in Brighton to disappoint, may it be the quality or the ridiculous prices, but the Regency is a hidden gem. A locals favourite, it can get really busy, but the staff are efficient and friendly so it generally isnt an issue. And of course the freshness of the seafood is fantastic, all being locally sourced each day. I would go as far as to say i havn't had fresher fish in the UK. The crab salad is fantastic, and if you have time to spare go the whole way for the seafood platter. It is the most expensive dish in the restaurant at around £38 but this can easily be shared between 2 or 3. I would say its best cold with lemon, under which circumstances theres no hiding bad quality produce. fantastic location opposite the old burnt down pier, over looking the sea, with lots of tables outdoors if you're lucky - plus lots of space indoors and a great collection of signed celeb photos decorating the hallway to the bathrooms

there's a great selection of fish on offer, including wonderful whitebait and mussels for that seafood starter fix, and lots of whole fish, lobster and the like for mains, but the fish and chips can't be beaten , particularly welcome on new year's day this year to clear the cobwebs
