I wasn't impressed at first. Our waitress had zero personality and didnâ¬"t seem to know much about the menu. But the manager suggested wines and was very nice, and the food was amazing. It was one of the best dinners of my life. We got small plates so we could try a bunch of stuff and there was nothing that we didn't like. All just superb.I wasn't impressed at first. As soon as you enter you feel the stress just role of your shoulders. The teachers are amazing, incredibly friendly and extremely helpful. These yogis definitely pay attention to detail.

I have loved this store since it first opened in May 2009. The designer, Richard Ives, creates beautifully crafted and wearable clothing for modern women.

The store also has great vintage sunglasses from designers such as Courreges, Lanvin, Halston, Valentino, etc., and a huge vintage selection of designer tops, skirts, dresses, etc.

I always run into other fashion editors shopping in the store for a good find, and a great bargain! Prices are pretty reasonable.

There is something about Padre Figlio, which just tells you they know what they are doing. It starts with the hostess, who greets you by name even though you have never been there before and have not announced yourself. The Maitre Dâ¬" proceeds to announce the voluminous specials of the day, including the ingredients and the method of preparationâ¬¦just so.
We were not interested in just beef, I wanted to see what the chef can do and even this jaded New Yorker was impressed. Some of us started with a wonderful tricolor salad topped with slivers of Romano cheese. I had a pickled eggplant and mushroom mÃ©lange wrapped in radicchio with gobs of freshly made buffalo milk mozzarella, still warm and silky smooth. Ahâ¬¦yes
Pasta is the reason for Italyâ¬"s existence and my judgment is strict and unforgiving. I am not sure what they called my dish. It was a variation of Spaghetti Matricana. Home made spaghetti perfectly al dente, with pancetta (unsmoked bacon), onion, and garlic with slices of filet mignon in an excellent tomato sauce topped with ricotta. The serving was so large, I cancelled my next course. Also at the table was home made lobster ravioli with large chucks of lobster and a perfectly grilled mediterrain sea bass.
Itâ¬"s a rough life, but someone has to do it and I am volunteering for your share at Padre Figlio.
Dinner for four was $ 250 with a tip. But I noticed that they have a limited menu prix fixe dinner at $ 35. I am definitely going back to try it

I had checked out Porterâ¬"s restaurant on the web about a week before making reservations. The website was attractive, the menu tempting, and live music was advertised. When the got to the restaurant there was no live music or DJ and the menu had changed significantly. But we still started our dinner with high hopes at this tablecloth restaurant because it looked good and we actually found free parking very close.
We were greeted courteously and seated. The staff was friendly and had a real grasp of their duties. Daily specials were presented intelligently and in detail. Our party ordered mussels, crab cakes, onion soup and salad and except for the bready crab cakes all were good.
We ordered one Steak au poivre medium rare and another medium well, the steaks came out the without the typical crusting, and some how tasted sour. Eventhough one was supposed to be medium well, both were medium rare.
We ordered chocolate soufflÃ©s for dessert, which were served with vanilla cream and whipped cream and although they were light and puffy, they didnâ¬"t taste of chocolate, very strange.
During every course the wait staff was attentive and helpful, but the food was mediocre at best and at $ 200 for four dinners, Porters is overpriced.
Later, I rechecked the website and it was no longer available and with a sparse attendance, no music and mediocre food this restaurant may not be in business for long.

Finoâ¬"s Wall Street

Finoâ¬"s Wall Street is mis-named, it should be Find if you can Not on Wall Street. Look for this subterranean pricey restaurant off the corner (or maybe that should be under the corner) of Beaver and Pearl.
The dÃ©cor of Finoâ¬"s reminds you of a 1940â¬"s gangster movie, there is even a private platform where the shoot out can occur. We went on Friday night and discovered that we were the only patrons with a wait staff of about twenty.
Because we were a group of four we were able to sample a fairly wide range of their offerings. Finoâ¬"s is not an Italian restaurant from any particular section of Italy, unless you consider Jersey City a section of Rome.
The Papardelle con Funghi was very good, but the Lobster stuffed Ravioli came with a zesty tomato sauce and seafood stuffed Ravioli should always had a creamy white sauce. The Cesar Salad had almost no dressing, but the shrimp, chicken and Veal dishes were first rate. The cold antipasti plate was very good and lots of variety, but almost superfluous, because the table service includes a large plate of olives, salami, peppers and large chunks of Parmesan.
Dinner for four with appetizer, pasta, main course and dessert will run about $ 220

On Saturday about 11 a.m. a walk through Chinatown, NYC, I noticed that most of the restaurants were essentially empty except the Dim Sum places. For those who are not native New Yorkerâ¬"s or Californianâ¬"s, Dim Sum is a weekend brunch where small tasting plates of various Chinese dishes are wheeled through the dining room. Typically you are put at a large table with people you have never met, often there are family group from Grandma to infants. As they stop by your table, you can pick out the dishes you like and a card is stamped indicating your purchase. These Dim Sum Palaces are often huge and can easily fit several hundred people and often the noise level, while not loud is a constant hum.

Sunshine 27, at 46 Bowery, is the successor to HSF, a Dim Sum stalwart. While I found the variety of dishes was smaller than the former HSF or 888 Palace, the food was quite good. A stand out was boiled beef short ribs, cut very small, served on top of rolled Chow Fun noodles and topped with either oyster sauce or chili sauce. There are many varieties of stuffed wontons or pot sticker such as Har Gow, with translucent outside and a shrimp paste stuffing. My favorite dessert is an Egg Custard served in a tiny pie tin with a flaky crust.

Brunch usually runs about $ 12-15/per person

This Sushi Place is the worst. So I am one of those weirdoes that like to eat my sushi dipped in ginger dressing not a far fetched request in most sushi restaurant except for this one. When I asked the waitress for my ginger dressing on the side with my order she refused. I asked her why she said it was against policy. I asked her why she proceeds to give me back the menu and told me to read the first page. Mind you the first page is like 5 paragraphs long talking about how sushi is eaten I did no read it and placed the menu down. They gave our salads first that came with our entree we left the dressing and salad untouched so I can use the dressing for my sushi. Then the manager came over to our table and explained that they want to keep custom and tradition on the way sushi is eaten. It is eaten with soy sauce he also proceeded to explain to me that their fish is "exquisite" and should be eaten according to tradition. Therefore we should stop playing the waiting game with out ginger dressing that we were holding out for our salad. I then replied and said I understand where you are coming from but if I was in Japan I would eat the way Japanese do and I am in New York now so I eat my sushi the way I want to eat it.He said yes but that our fish is really good and should be eaten according to custom. I told me what would happen if we refuse to eat the way they want us to eat it. He was a little taken back by this and he then proceeded to say they would ask the customers to leave without pay. My friend and I discussed this right in front of him and I was thinking whether I should comply then I said no. I want to eat sushi a certain way I should be allowed to and not be forced into doing what this restaurant wants me to do. What a tyrannical restaurant! We did the unexpected and told them we were leaving. We left the restaurant without paying for drinks. My friend also told me that she should have know because when she called to make a reservation at 730 they refused and then she said what time do you have they said 8 when she agreed they where shocked and said ok thatâ¬"s fine but you will need to be done by 930pm. This place is not worth it they are demanding, forceful and think the customer is there to please them instead of thinking that you are there to be pleased. In the end we went to Sushi Samba which had excellent service and they did not mind giving me ginger dressing on the side. They must use crappy ingredients or something. The actual place where you pick the food up stinks and is dirty. It was expensive too. I believe I had General Tso's, and it was actually STALE and overly breaded, and the chicken was gristly, chewy and just overall BLAH.(it seems they added the animal oil to cook their food). What a bunch of crooks! They charged us hundreds of dollars more than other stores for the exact same camera, and over 8x the going rate for the card. They said it was a special HD card for HD televisions. .... it was not. Got the camera home and could not even charge it - it had a Eurpoean plug !! CHECK THE FINE PRINT ON THE SALES RECEIPT !! NO RETURNS !!! Do not buy anything from these guys. The store should be shut down.What a bunch of crooks!
