Whitstable Fish Market - The freshest fish, and the best oysters in England by JuliaParsons

This lively and popular market sells only fish and shellfish of the freshest and highest quality, and the variety on offer is great.

The fish comes in daily straight from the Whitstable boats to the market - it doesn't get fresher than that. The variety is fantastic and you can shop with an easy conscience knowing that the market has a sustainable seafood policy which has been endorsed by the Marine Conservation Society.

I live driving down to Whitstable on a Sunday morning and picking up fish for my dinner, and without fail I always eat some oysters when I'm there. Whistable is famous for it's oysters and trust me they're to die for. Buy them from the market and eat them right there at the harbour, enjoying the most delicious oysters you'll ever eat.

You can read about one of my outings to the market and see pictures here:

http://asliceofcherrypie.blogspot.com/2006/10/i-do-like-to-be-beside-seaside.html
Whistable Fish Market, at Whitstable Harbour in Kent, is well renowned and rightly so. Having guzzled some oysters and studied the Crab and Winkles' menu for that evening we were in desperate need of a coffee.

We stumbled across a bloke selling organic, freshly ground coffee next to his VW camper van with an array of up to date newspapers and magazines scatterd across the parcel shelf.

Cowie had a super fair trade tea whilst I polished off two double espresssos whilst lounging around in the back of a camper van. This was bliss. Out of the wind drinking delicious coffee and reading all the good bits of the paper. This is the quintessential experience of what drinking tea or coffee should be... literally transporting you away from the drudgery of everyday life to a life more charming... a better place.

Have a look at Volks Coffee's website to see where they'll turn up next! When we were in Whitstable Cowie and I had a great time exploring the market on the harbour.
