Great food with a great price, we had one of the Sunday roasts, and I must say how nice it was, we paid Â£12 for our meals that was FOR BOTH NOT EACH....... What do you do with a pub that has the disadvantage of being islolated in a windy corner on the Thames Estuary.
Serve fantastic food!!
The ingredients are top quality local and the chefs work in a glass enclosed kitchen so you can see what is going on from outside the pub.There is nothing fancy about the pub itself but there is about the food.
The menu is small but the chefs know what they are doing with the food.The choices of wine,cheeses,meats and seafood are truly quality based.I could wax lyrical about any of the dishes we had,suffice to say that I cannot criticise any of them,truly amazing.
The leg of lamb came as two cuts,shank and prime leg the prime leg was good the shank was epic deep flavours of what lamb should taste like ....homemade strawberry ice cream with cream and shortbread biscuit and more cream truly EPIC.
Cheese board ...skate...homemade bread...even the butter was exceptional.
Put yourself out a little and go,please go it is the best pub food in the country

Rating: 3.00This pub is situated on the beach (literally) and enviably has the best location in Whitstable. There are loads of tables outside on the beach itself and you can drink to your heart's content and watch the sun set. Great atmos out there, friendly and kiddie/dog friendly too. However, I think it's fair to say that inside you can get a bit youthy/rowdy and rammed at times, so sitting outside is preferable. Rating: 3.00I've only been here during the day, but it's a clean friendly place with a small outside seating area. The food is quite good and it's handy for the harbour. It lacks character though as the decor is just too plain and modern. This pub has a nice higgledy piggledy rustic feel to it. Friendly atmosphere, cosy in Winter with a real roaring fire. But as it's small it gets a bit rammed sometimes. Fortunately in Summer there's a big garden with loads of tables.
The best thing about here is the Sunday roasts which are GREAT VALUE and DELICIOUS, (small is normal sized and large is enormous!) They even do a take-away roast in Summer so you can eat it on the beach. Marvellous! However, they are fresh and take a while to be served. Don't go if you're in a rush. This pub is a proper good old local pub, (but thankfully without the local "get arf my land" or "hassling youths" you sometimes get).
We always have a good time there. Good pool table, juke box, very friendly fun staff. She even remembered what our round consisted of.
