We went on a Sunday, which is probably the busiest day. Because you cannot book ahead, it is worth going about half and hour before to put your name on the list, then have a pre-meal drink. For the roast there were 3 meats on offer Gammon, Beef and Turkey, and there were 2 nice looking vegetarian options. There were huge yorkshire puds on offer,stuffing,roast and boiled potatoes, mashed sweed,carrots, brocolli (all were freshly prepared not frozen) and a choice of at least 3 different gravys. You were allowed to go up for seconds for everything except the meat. The food was delicious (I have often come home from other carveries thinking my roast is better! but this one did not disappoint), but this was really good value for money and tasty.We went on a Sunday, which is probably the busiest day. Rating: 3.00Not easy to find unless you are a local. It has a lovely beer garden at the front which is great for a drink on a sunny day. The interior is quite traditional and almost feels like being in someones living room. It's a friendly place has a regular crowd who go there - mostly 40's plus. The food has been of varying standards over the years but the place has changed hands several times so it may be ok now. Great location for a pub lunch if you want to go to the beach afterwards. Rating: 3.00This pub has an amazing location with views out across the harbour where you can watch the kite surfing or the sunset. The interior is a little tired but the advantage is that they let wetsuits in. On Tuesday night there is a regular pub quiz which is well attended. At weekends they sometimes have bands. The vibe is laid back and staff are friendly. They have pool tables which you don't find in many pubs now. The food menu is quite 'fast food' and is average pub grub. The BT is in the up and coming area of Ashley Cross. There are no shortage of bars here if you fancy a pub crawl but the BT offers a welcome escape from loud music. It generally attracts locals and is a friendly and causual place. The landlord likes his rock music and can often be seen dancing behind the bar. The interior is wacky and has little cabin areas and lots of strange nautical things on the ceiling - go and check it out for yourself. They have a great range of traditional ales and ciders on draught and a couple of little tables outside for when the sun comes out.The BT is in the up and coming area of Ashley Cross. The Brickies as it's known to locals is a traditional style pub in an area full of trendy wine bars. It's always possible to get a seat and if you don't mind shabby decor then you'll love the laid back atmosphere. Don't go on a rainy night if you might need the loo as you have to go to an outside toilet block. The biggest advantages of this place are that it has a lovely beer garden where you can take kids and dogs and there aren't many of those left in local pubs now. Rating: 4.00This is one of the cheap and cheerful chains opening up everywhere. The drinks, alcoholic and non alcoholic are really reasonable and of the same quality as in any posh, pricey wine bar. There is loads of seating including outside seats, although the view is of Sainsburys supermarket! The food here is plentiful in choice and fine in quality, bearing in mind the cost of the food which is super value for money and not tight portions either. They sell breakfasts as well as meals and snacks. There always seems to be plenty of staff on hand and they are approachable and helpful too. Toilets are upstairs which can be a pain for those with small children. High chairs available as well as free colouring packs to keep the kids amused whilst waiting for the meals to arrive.
