Firstly, the atmosphere and the interior design is really quite good, considering it is an old bank. The problem this place faces is not only is it off set from other places and then out on a limb for others - it just seems to be quite expensive food for what you get. I found the food to be Ok - but the prices were quite alot and i was thoroughly disappointed to find what i got when the food came out. Well, where to begin with this place! I think first off is the warm adn friendly staff - have been here many a time and they have always been most helpful - even when they have been so busy, they have shown me upstairs to their cocktail bar and i have even had complimentary drinks! The food is amazing, with various dishes to choose from, however, I had trouble finishing it all! The only downside i feel is that sometimes when it is exceptionally busy, there is often not alot of space. Which might be a little difficult for someone in a wheelchair or a family with a buggy. Overall, the place oozes character and life - would highly recommend!

This place has been around in Plymouth for many years and has grown into something quite well known in plymouth. From the outside the Ganges does not seem much - but you go inside and are greeted by warm and friendly staff. There used to be a 50% the food bill attached to the food menu - which has now disappeared and the prices have been raised - like alot of things. However the food never fails to deliver and I always come away with a smile on my face and a full tummy! Rating: 3.00Go - you'll be chuffed - especially when the kids see the little model railway that runs round one end of the dining car. This place is always packed at the weekend because its pretty much the only decent foodstop on the way to Dartmoor out of Plymouth (ok there are some pubs at Yelverton but they look pretty scary).We've eaten here many times - egg n chips and such like and the food's fine. Not amazing. Bacon could be better. But for convenience and family day out feel it can't be beaten. If you want a proper sit down meal with more variety and a better atmosphere I'd go for the Jack Rabbit pub on the big Derriford roundabout further towards Plymouth. I find the staff delightful - always willing to squeeze me and my rowdy brood in even when they are really busy and we haven't booked. The first time we went there the owner was in, and came over for a chat - the first and only time this has ever happened to me in Plymouth! I have found the food consistently good with a varied menu that's not so big it takes you all evening to decide. The only hazard of eating here is that you end up noshing on the delicious bread and flavoured butters at the start thus leaving no room for the mains. Somehow, whatever, I always manage to squeeze in a pud. Price wise, its highly reasonable. OOh marvelous. Me and the hubby found this place after wandering into nearby Cafe Rouge and being left standing for about 15 minutes with no sign of a table or even a waiter to tell us what was going on. We had a set lunch menu which was incredibly good value - around 16 pounds I think - and certainly no more than we would have paid for the bog standard food in Cafe Rouge. The service was excellent, professional and friendly, the food an absolute revelation (we aren't used to such posh nosh!) Try the Lebanese wine if they still sell it - really unusual. I'd always thought of Tanners as somewhere just for those special occasions like anniversaries, but at these prices its easily affordable to do more often. The inside restaurant is a bit claustrophobic but there's a sort of semi-covered area which is divine. Highly recommended - force your hubby to take you!OOh marvelous. Particularly good if you can get the squidgy sofa tables (although last time we went the'd been replaced with chairs because some twat had stood on the sofa arm and broken it). Tapas and nachos and such like are great although they always leave me feeling guiltystuffedsick afterwards; and they do a Thai chicken thing which is also good value. Drinks and puddings aren't a rip off either. Utterly reliable Indian in what locals pretentiously like to call the "village" of Stoke. This is my place of choice for girly and work meals out mainly because the young waiters are lush! But it is the only Indian I've eaten at in the city where the dishes don't all taste the same after the first few mouthfulls. Also they don't play that old trick of serving up endless quantities of papadums to induce a raging thirst. The seating is comfy, the decoration warm and cosy and the service good. The slight frisson between some of the staff only adds to the fun. Oh and there's a small free car park nearby. Can't tell you how much I love this place. Ok its a chain pub. Ok its olde worlde charm is entirely 21st century but it makes me and my little kiddies welcome and confortable; it feeds us food which doesn't poison us; it's staffed to the hilt at 3pm on a Sunday when I generally call in on the way back from't moor; and best off all they put their xmas decorations up in about October so we can forget the dreary summer and get in the festive mood nice and early. Also they've got something just right about the layout; you feel you've got privacay without being cut off from the general pubby throng, and you can hold a converstaion without fighting the music or other people's chatter - and yet its still got atmosphere. I'm sorry but you can stick your poncey gastropubs and cramped village hostelries - I'll take this place any time.Can't tell you how much I love this place. Ok its a chain pub. Me and my family have been visiting this Pizza Express since we moved to Plymouth 10 years ago - back when the city's idea of a classy night out was a yard long hot dog at Captain Jaspers. We've never had a duff meal, the staff are always friendly and professional and its one of the only places I'm always happy to leave a big tip. A couple of niggles: for some reason, it can often be freezing cold; and the puddings are very expensive. i have been here a lot of times, and it varies on how good the experience is, some times it is wonderful and some times it is rubbish, there is a boy in there called luke and he is so good he rights it down really well, brings it out really fast, always asks if we want our drinks refilled, and he has even personally made our pizza for us because i said i wanted pepperoni just on the top, because some people there say that they can not do that (but he can so do not know what they are talking about they just can not be bothered to ask the chef. the other day i ordered my pizza there it came (not very hot) and i said very nicely that it was not very hot, and they disagreed and said it was hot so we did have to ask for the manager to sort it out and he did do me a fresh one.

This is a nice small venue with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, the staff seem to care about what they are selling and how they work but are equally relaxed and laid back. The menu is pretty good with lots of Italian style dishes on offer and most of the dishes are pretty good in their size, however some items are smaller than you would expect, it can be one of the places you look at your companions meals who has twice as much but paying the same price, my suggestion would be to chose 2 dishes and ask which one has the bigger portion if you are in need of being filled right up. Rating: 4.00I am a fan of Old Orleans in Plymouth and always have been. The restaurant is one of those with loads of crazy rubbish on the walls and ceiling and has a pretty good atmosphere to it. The staff are friendly and polite and always seem happy to be helping and dealing with you. The menu has loads to chose from, including burgers, fajitas, steak and fish dishes â¬ the only thing I would say is look out for some of the odd sauces they add to some dishes â¬ if your not sure on the sauce in the description ask for it on the side. fantastic restaurant - this is the nearest atmosphere you wil get to eating abroad. Lovely family run business.
Food is presented beautifully. Not cheap but quality ingredients. Good wine and service is both prompt and friendly.
What a shame that the family is leaving this place - will it remain as the same restaurant or become something else?

This is our local chinese takeaway and we have noticed a change in the quality of food over the past 2 years. Portions have always been generous and piping hot but we think the quality of meat is not as good and that it tastes of too much MSG. Strangley though if you order midwek you tend to get a better meal. When they are busy at weekeends food tastes re-heated and rushed. we use this takeaway occasionally and have mixed reviews.

At times we had received excellent dishes, prompty that are stil piping hot and at times we have been dissapointed.

Meals are generous but expensive. menu is as expected. nothing exciting or new.

Been to this place twice. The first time we were taken by a Spanish friend who knew the staff. On this occasion the service was prompt and friendlya nd the food was good.

The second visit was a totally different experience - the food was ok but nothing special.

A lively atmosphere suitable for large parties rather than quiet or romatic dinners.

dont expect this to be anything like the food you experience whilst in Spain. Food here is acceptable but lacks the freshness and service you would receive abroad.

We have not felt that the food was good enough to return.

Rating: 4.00This Pizza hut is smack bang wallop in the middle of Plymouth City centre, which sometimes especially during school holidays makes this a bit kid crazy but normally the staff on hand seem to try and keep them under control and the place tidy. The all you can eat buffet option is good and normally as a busy restuarant topped up with fresh pizza, although not expect the biggest selection in the world, its normally just ham and pinapple, beef and onion, vegertartion, cheese and tomatoe and ham and mushroom. If you take the collection offer you can normally ring and order, hop in your car and make your way down where the pizza is normally ready - this is normally the cheapest way as they normally run a buy one get one free offer, although I was once told if I had chessey bites pizza I couldnt have this as the free one, but just a normal base. Delivery has always been really quick and on time, normally I am quoted about a 40 minute wait but the pizza is here in less than 25 minutes.
