I am in the process of organising a lunch for a team of 20 + work colleagues. I called to enquire about menu's. Having seen the 2 meals for Â£9.95 advertised on the boards outside on my daily commute to and from work, I was informed by an incredibly unhelpful man that "we don't do that", I then went on to ask about lunchtime specials but again was given "we don't do any - our meals start at Â£2.95" when asking if he could email or fax me a menu ............ guess what the response was yeah you've got it "we don't do that, if you want a menu you'll have to come a fetch it yourself" Needless to say we are going back to The Boathouse which offers excellent service, great atmosphere, great food and incredibly helpful members of staff!
I work in a Customer Services environment and believe me, this is NOT the way to treat potential customers. Rating: 4.00Picturesque pub in a nice location with an excellent menu and lots of ambience. Good choice between the reasonable bar menu and the more expensive and adventurous dining, and good beers on tap.

Possibly the best pub in Peterborough, and certainly one of the best choices in the city centre.
A good selection of beer, including award-winning Oakham Ales, complimented by tasty and reasonably priced Thai food in generous portions.
It's also quite a large and airy pub, with several comfy sofas if you can grab them, and the staff are generally welcoming and friendly...even if they sometimes need help reminding orders on a busy Friday or Saturday.
it's open till late on weekends with DJs, and can get a bit too busy for a meal, but the Thai Fries and chicken wings are great for mopping up some of the beer.
Luckily there are only ever TV screens etc for the really big matches, and being between the city centre and the station means most of the local hooligans can't be bothered to walk that far.
Now I really fancy a pint of Oakham's JHB!Possibly the best pub in Peterborough, and certainly one of the best choices in the city centre.

Rating: 1.00We visited this pub a few weeks back for their carvery and our experiece was not great to say the least.

At first glance it looked ok but the food was terrible. Potatoes burn and everything else tasted like it had been run through the microwave.

Very friendly village pub, with great atmosphere, good food, excellent real ales and real log fires.
The pub has 2 bars and a seperate restaurant offering quality home cooked food at very reasonable prices.
The bars always have at least 2 real ales available which are kept exceptionally well by a very knowledgable landlord.
There are 2 beer gardens one for smokers (with patio heaters) and one for non smokers and there is a very large enclosed grass area for children to play in the summer.
During the year there are many special events including parties for families at Easter, Halloween and Christmas.
The perfect place for anyone looking for a tradional friendly village pub style welcome.Very friendly village pub, with great atmosphere, good food, excellent real ales and real log fires.

Having used the Good Pub Guide many times with excellent results we were in the area of Wadenhoe and found the Kings Head. It is a loveley pub in a lovely location and as it was a bitterly cold day we could not wait to try their home made soup. It came well presented on a board with wonderful bread but it was in fact I'm sure (I am qualified cook) tinned tomatoes wizzed in a blender with chives on top. For 2 bowls we were charged Â£9.00. This pub is aimed more at young people and you tend to see a lot of young adults here during working hours with their mates catching a quick bite to eat and drink.

The food is pretty much standard pub grub and the prices are decent enough.

The drinks are all right and throughout the year they participate in the drinks festivals and they have some decent offers on their ales and wine when these are on. Their ranges of drinks also expand so there's something new to try.

The have a sports bar bit where you can catch the latest matches or races.

I've been going here for quite a few years now and have to say it is probably one of my favourite family pubs to go to in Peterborough.

The food portions are generous, the quality of the food is excellent and the prices are pretty reasonable for a family pub. They have different deals on offer throughout the week too which saves you a little extra as well.

The atmosphere is very friendly and home-like and I would definitely recommend going here if your planning a meal out with the family or maybe even a get-together.

There's also a sports bar!

Hi All, just a quick note to say what a great pub the Solstice is went therewith my girlfriend and her friends the other Friday night, really good music, felt safe and nice people there. The security staff were pleasant and the beer was reasonable. Rating: 5.00If you love fish then this is a great place to get fantastic food, great choice and unusual dishes too in that they offer more than your standard cod and chips. Sometimes they have fish I have not heard of before on the menu.

Good sized bar area in two rooms so plenty of room to enjoy a drink with friends or before your meal. The locals are often in having a few glasses so there is a friendly atmoshpere. A separate restaurant means that you can enjoy your food in style.

They do have meat and vegetarian dishes too however, I am always drooling over which fish to have so rarely notice what else is available.

Just a great place to visit! The location is superb right next to the river so you can relax with an excellent glass of wine or a beer whilst sitting in the beer garden amongst the trees. The river often has boats moored as people stop to have a meal at the pub.

On our last visit they had a Barbecue going so you could have a burger in a bun with your beer!

Wadenhoe in a lovely village to explore. You can walk up to the Church if you are feeling energetic before you go for a well earned glass of wine. On a Sunday you sometines can get a cream tea in the village hall!Just a great place to visit! The location is superb right next to the river so you can relax with an excellent glass of wine or a beer whilst sitting in the beer garden amongst the trees. The river often has boats moored as people stop to have a meal at the pub.

On our last visit they had a Barbecue going so you could have a burger in a bun with your beer!

I love to dine in the conservatory as it has a lovely feel and open views across the garden to Fotheringhay church, which is steeped in History. This is a restaurant so if you want normal pub food don't go here as the prices are much higher.

The food is excellent quality, prepared to order, well presented and very tasty. Excellent wine list as you would expect from this type of restaurant.

It looks like a pub from the outside and there is a bar area where you can sit and have a drink and warm yourself in front of the fire in Winter. Although it's quite small so can get crowded. In Summer there is a lovely garden to enjoy. Plenty of parking available at the rear.

Fotheringhay is a lovely village too, so have a wonder around and visit the old castle and moat area. No remains just the hill but still worth a stroll.

At the weekends and particularly when there is live music it can get very crowded with limited access. It can feel claustrophobic if you don't like being squashed and having to squeeze past people to get to the toilet. The bar area is small too for the number of people who frequent the place so it not easy to get to the bar when it's busy.

Situated right on the river bank too so you can enjoy a drink sitting next to the river.

There's a function room upstairs available for private parties.

I love the layout of this pub and the ambience. Plenty of tables so can cater for small and large group or couples. You need to book at busy times, in my experience.

Good selection of wines, beers and other drinks as you would expect. Great selection of meals and it's tasty, well prepared and good value for money.

There's a beer garden to enjoy all those balmy Summer days that we enjoy here in England....lol!

This is a bar with a difference, it is a refurbished barge. Charters is the name of the bar in the hull of the boat, it is quite spacious, with a bar running about 3/4 of the length of the vessel. They stock spirits and lagers, but are best known for their wide range of well-kept ales.

They also regularly host live music events, from Blues to Rock.
