The portions are indeed massive. Anybody in possession of a normal appetite should order nothing larger than small chips and battered cod. The likelihood is you'll still struggle with it. Which begs the question, why not reduce the size of the portions and save both us and them money? For it is rather pricey. Tasty though.The portions are indeed massive. You canâ¬"t really not write a review for a McDonaldâ¬"s restaurant in Oxford, can you? The subjectâ¬"s irresistible â¬ all those high-end, haute-cuisine eateries specialising in food from countries youâ¬"re not even entirely sure where they are on the map to choose from in Oxford, and you to a McDonalds. Well doesnâ¬"t justabout everybody? And I suspect that might even include a few of those stalwarts from the Botley Mums protest group who were carrying out that slightly embarrassing campaign focussed on the one on the A420 a few years ago.

Itâ¬"s a McDonaldâ¬"s. What you expect is what youâ¬"ll get. Itâ¬"s clean inside, the food - for any visitors from outer space who are reading this, is generally beef burger and chip based - and is as good as it ever is. Itâ¬"s reasonably priced. Itâ¬"s in a good position â¬ if youâ¬"re trekking out of or through Oxford, itâ¬"s on the way to London and the south-east so itâ¬"s a very handy stop-off, especially as there isnâ¬"t another easily accessible McDonaldâ¬"s on that route till Hemel Hempsted, really. Itâ¬"s open painfully early in the morning till late at night. Offers anything and everything you could want from a McDonald's â¬ except. And this is why Iâ¬"ve knocked off one star, as in every other respect it would easily be a â¬Üthreeâ¬". Despite being situated in full view of, and right beside the main through-traffic route, it is devilish difficult to get to from the main road. You end up being routed round the back of residential closes. The resulting tricky access must have made whoever planned the - otherwise commanding - positioning of this place weep.

I count myself as no fan of this place, and the best that I can say about it would probably be that since it's been a while since I last visited, I suppose it's possible things may have improved lately. The staff when I used to go there were unpleasant and unhelpful â¬ especially after on one occasion, I had the audacity to try and make a â¬ I thought a quite reasonable -complaint. And the food is well over-priced! Itâ¬"s been there for years and years, though, selling its range of in-house-made sandwiches and high-end crisps and soft drinks to generation after generation of students. So why is it still trading then? Well, in this part of Oxford youâ¬"re pretty much looking at a captive market arenâ¬"t you? All the buildings, the grounds â¬ everything around you for miles and miles â¬ is effectively owned by one University College or another, and hence I assume there is very little room for entrepreneurial business development. This place is quite literally, the only snack shop where you can pick up lunch for under a tenner, for miles and miles â¬ unless you fancy a longish walk into the city centre, and that'll really eat into your lunch-break. The Burger King has got renovated less than a year ago, the place is spotless clean and of course serves nice crispy fries and much nicer burgers than McDonalds. It's located on the main shopping street and when it's nice weather they can even open the windows downstairs like doors so you can enjoy outside entertainment. The burgers have always looked good and not sloppy, the staff are foreign but are efficient nevertheless. They do not serve breakfast foods however, I recommend the McDonalds for that! KFC - Not as classy as the others on Cornmarket by Oaktree

Rating: 2.00With McDonald's and Burger King both on Cornmarket - and both selling chicken-based products too - this KFC has to be top notch to beat the competition. Unfortunately it falls short of the mark - the other two have had recent refurbishments and overhauls, but KFC still has its much smaller and more kebab-shop-like serving space and an upstairs that doesn't do as well as the others for natural light.

I also had some bowel issues the last time I ate there, which biases this review a bit, and I haven't been back since that happened. (It wasn't really really bad, just, er, inconvenient!)With McDonald's and Burger King both on Cornmarket - and both selling chicken-based products too - this KFC has to be top notch to beat the competition. Rating: 4.00After months of receiving shiny leaflets from Domino's Pizza through our door, we eventually caved in to the marketing and phoned up to order pizza from our new house. The menu is varied, with the opportunity to create your own with a large number of toppings and a range of ever-changing meal deals.

It came when they said it would, and was large and delicious - just the thing to sustain you through a house move when your kitchen stuff is still in boxes.

The place makes the best fish and chips without a doubt. The food is fairly fresh and has never disappointed. If someone knows of a better fish and chips then send me a message! I like it, it makes a much needed change for the other terrible fast-foods. The portions are so much larger than McDonalds that it really makes you wonder how much money the big chains are making unfairly. If you want to keep that beautiful arse of yours in shape like the black female stairs they even recommend it! The chicken is generally good but you often wonder where it comes from. The burgers are nice and even nicer than Burger king or mcdonalds, and you can even add a little spicyness with the zinger option. The people who work there don't speak the best english but they work fast and fairly well. Typical McDonalds, very popular due to its location with a lot of kids who are there as tourists and leave all their crap around the place. The place is often clean but because of the little brats it does not stay like so. The food is good, and the staff is very efficient at serving you. In my opinion though you can walk a little further and either go for a Kentucky Fried Chicken or a Burger King which are a lot nicer and have been recently re done. The place is terrible, every time I go there the place is sticky and the serving and service is horrible. Not only is this McDonald's but you usually expect a standard service. Quite a few chav drivers like to stop there and they can annoy you with their cockiness and "I don't care about anyone else" attitude. I would rather go in town and get a Burger King or go to a fishâ¬"nâ¬"chips which is a little cheaper but a lot better.
