I'll keep this short and sweet... if you are looking for a tradition Sunday lunch of real quality this is well worth a visit. I have been a few times now and each time it's been fantastic. It's all home cooking and there's a great choice. Choose from Roast beef, pork, chicken, turkey or a vegetarian bake. All come with all the trimmings and a side dish of vegetables as well as an extra gravy boat. The portions are generous to say the least and you'll be hard pushed to make it to the sweet selection all of which are home made and so tasty ( I did make it, at least to share an Apple Betty with Custard). None of it's fancy, just great traditional british cooking and lots of it, all served by friendly and helpful staff in a real lively pub. Perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon and a beer or glass of wine. Perfect if you aren't worrying about you waistline. Well worth the Â£7 for the main meal. I had the misfortune to have to attend a meeting at this establishment that occupies a prominent position on the Grand Parade in Tynemouth (the posh bit of North Shields) facing the sea. I say misfortune as The Park Hotel's reputation goes before it... and it is not good. Sadly it lived up to this reputation and more besides. The exterior looks a tad tatty and is painted in a very strange mustardy colour, but once inside you know that this IS Fawlty Towers... the combination of 1970's plastic seats, the complete absence of any staff, the overly busy patterned and stained carpets and that smell. Now what was that smell? A combination of toilets, frying and BO was my best guess. The meeting I attended was bad enough, but then along came the food. Where do I begin? Dirty cups and saucers, the scrambled rubber stuff which apparently were eggs, the bumbling waiter with appalling BO and a filthy uniformâ¬¦ oh, I could do on and on, but why bother, this place is to be avoided at all costs. If I could give it negative stars I would! Prompted by Sue81 and Alex_J's contributions and that Kesar is just 5 minutes walk from the front door, Kesar was chosen as the venue for Old Shrek's birthday meal. It certainly didn't disappoint and we'll certainly be back! The service is first rate, the decor is clean and modern and the food is simply excellent.
The menu is a sheer delight, there's something for lovers of seafood, for meat eaters and for vegetarians alike. The Onion Bargees and Samosas were as good as I have ever sampled; tasty with subtle spicing and not at all greasy. The main courses of Biryani Vegetable and Channa Marsala were equally fabby; the plain Naan and sides of Saag Aloo and Bhindi (ki subji) were simply outstanding. The only disappointment was the lack of any genuine Indian desserts; oh how brilliant it would be to find Ras Malai and Gulab Jamuns on the menu for my next visit!

Been here many times but must admit not recently. We were surprised at the large increase in the set meal price,but as Tuesday was Indian night for £8.95 per head plus a glass of wine we opted for this.We were given 2 glasses of white wine after asking for red we were told we could only have white ! The meal was very poor both curries Madras and Tikka were sliced stir fried chicken and onion in a very watery out of a jar flavoured sauces.Will not be going back.Been here many times but must admit not recently. The restaurant was very busy as it was Valentine's Day, but even allowing for this the service was very slow. Twice I asked for a glass of tap water, and was told by an increasingly irritated waiter that they only provided bottled water. The food was okay, although my friend did not get what she ordered, & most of the staff appear friendly but rather feckless and absent-minded. I had been told twice when booking & once by the waiting staff that I could use a discount card that night. However when I tried to settle the bill I ended up in a lengthy argument with the manager, who insisted that I could not. Eventually he gave in but for us that was the final straw. If like me, you have paid your gym membership with every intention of going regularly, but have in fact found any excuse not to go, then you should consider hiring a personal trainer. David Fairlamb Fitness operates a private gym within the grounds of Tynemouth College where they torture...er... no, train you back into shape.
David or one of his highly qualified team will access you; quiz you as to your objectives and then design a personal regime just for you. They will then help you implement the regime on a one-to-one basis generally once a week.
The gym has all the usual machines and contraptions that you'd expect to find, but thankfully your training sessions are not limited to these. There's weight training, floor exercises and boxing too. And such great delights as running round a room carrying a heavy bar above your head or going up and down three flights of stairs many times and that wonderful thing the medicine ball.
Does it work? Yep, it certainly does. And it's not bad value either, when you compare it to that unused gym membership you took out with the best of intentions last New Year.

Rating: 4.00I was only recently introduced to the wonder of Bill's Fish Bar, by a friend of mine who's been visiting the outlet for years. It's in a fab location, just over the road from Cullercoats beach, so there's not far to walk to find somewhere scenic to eat your food. The fish here really is great and it comes in a box instead of paper - although I prefer my food to be wrapped in paper, (for some reason I think it makes it taste better!)a large box is easier to eat out of if you're dining al fresco. I always order the chicken bites from Bill's, which I must admit at first glance, don't actually look particularly nice! I was expecting battered chicken nugget type things, but they're actually chunks of chicken breast, covered in a beautiful seasoning before they're fried. The resulting chicken bites do look a bit like they're overcooked because of this seasoning, but the first bite tells you that they're actually lovely! It has about 9 screens and so is able to repeat all the new films quite a bit in a day.

The car parking at the complex can be very difficult and the location itself can be hard to reach as the traffic is always very busy.

There is a Frankie and Bennies aswell as a Pizza Hut next to the cinema.

Once inside, queing can be hectic and if you decide to book online be prepared to pay extra.

There is plenty of overpriced food to chose from (be prepared to queue again!): Ben & Jerry's ice cream, pick n mix, popcorn, nachos, hot dogs etc.

The toilets are always imaculate and there is never a queue.

Rating: 5.00Starbowl is the most modern bowling alley I've been to.

It's pretty new so it isn't very run down like a lot of them.

The shoes are not worn in too much which puts alot of people off.

The prices are excellent; they often have offers such as 2 games for Â£5 etc. and the drinks are very reasonably priced. Food is also on offer such as burger meals and group parties for children or adults can be arranged.

At night, the lights go down and the music is cranked up, they usually check that no-one has epilepsy before the laser beams go on!

There are plenty of amusements for afterwards or while you wait.

We normally book our lanes ahead as it gets quite busy on weekends.

Parking is no problem whatsoever; there is a huge car park.

The Shiremoor Farm is very popular and definately one of the best choices of pub food in the area.

The car park is big, although on weekends (Sundays especially) it can be very difficult to get a parking space.

The decor is cosy (plenty of wooden beams and fires!) and the staff are very efficient and polite.

It is a popular location for work colleagues to meet after a day in the offices which are located close to the pub.

The food is superb in my opinion. The only downfall would be, like most pubs healthy options are limited (most meals are accompanied with chips). There is normally a good few vegetarian choices on the menus.

On Sundays, the highlight of the roasts are HUGE Yorkshire Puddings! There is normally a chicken option available too.

There is a great range of puddings and I would recommend the good old banana split!

Outside, there is heat lamps on the seating area on the patio. There are no facilities to entertain children here and no pool tables!!The Shiremoor Farm is very popular and definately one of the best choices of pub food in the area.

The bakery has counter service but if you are eating in the cafe it's table service. The staff are really friendly and efficient. There is a good selection on the menu and a nice variety of sandwich fillings - my favourite is the Jarlsberg cheese - yummy! After having something savoury you can view the delicious cakes at the bakery and make your choice. The cafe can get very busy at lunchtimes and you may find that you have to wait for a table.Roy's Bakery is situated on the very popular Front Street in Tynemouth. Lui's is situated on the ever-popular Front Street, Tynemouth. It has a very pleasant outdoor seating area at the front and a variety of seating arrangements inside. It has an extensive menu and sources the food locally. It attracts people from every generation and appears to be child-friendly too. The staff are friendly and efficient. Rating: 4.00The location of Crusoes is fantastic. It is situated right on the beach at Tynemouth with sweeping views along the beach and out to the North Sea. The exterior and interior resemble a large wooden beach shack, but a lot nicer, with sand as an added extra! It's a great place for a coffee and scone in the morning or a bowl of hearty soup at lunchtime. It is counter service and I have seen queues right along the side of the building. The staff are very friendly and deal with customers efficiently. It's a very popular place for parents/grandparents and young children as it is baby-friendly with lots of highchairs.The location of Crusoes is fantastic. Located on Tynemouth Front street and not far from Tynemouth priory is the Salutation Inn. It's a decent enough pub, serving very reasonably priced food (some things on the menu are 2 for Â£7.95). The wait was a little long when we were there but it was a nice day so lots of people had made a beeline for the beach and it was very busy. The tables could be better positioned as I was constantly having my chair knocked by passing customers. On the day I visited, I used public transport but I would imagine, if driving, there could be an issue with parking availability (especially when the weather is nice and people have flocked to the beach)Located on Tynemouth Front street and not far from Tynemouth priory is the Salutation Inn. The Prince of Wales is also known as The Old Wooden Dolly. This friendly local pub gives the impression that it has been here forever, but that's not the case as is located in what was formerly the office of a timber yard on the edge of the Tyne between Fish Quay and the excellent Porthole pub and Shields passenger ferry.
The beer is always in great condition and it is very reasonably priced. The interior is clean, loaded with character and pleasantly uncomfortable! Hard seats and benches are the order of the day, in what can best be described as a very traditional English pub often packed with friendly and talkative locals.
Sunday lunches are very popular here; a standard meat and two veg combo is generous in size, very reasonably priced and cooked and presented just like your granny would have done.
My favourite... the crab sarnies!! NOT to be missed.
HIGHLY recommended and well worth a detour to visit.

Hard seats and benches are the order of the day, in what can best be described as a very traditional English pub often packed with friendly and talkative locals.
Sunday lunches are very popular here; a standard meat and two veg combo is generous in size, very reasonably priced and cooked and presented just like your granny would have done.
My favourite... the crab sarnies!! NOT to be missed.
HIGHLY recommended and well worth a detour to visit.
