Can't believe anyone would rate the mayflower any less than 5 stars - top class food across the board, Curry, Black Bean Sauce, Chicken & Mushroon, Sweet and Sour, phenomenal... Since the new ownership over a year ago now Tuckers is total transformed. The staff are all friendly and helpful and the service is second to none. You feel like you could ask them anything and they would try and help you all they could. This along with the superb quality and variety of food make both the eating and buying experience second to none. unlike the first review I have been in Chutneys its one of the best Indian's in Motherwell (yes Motherwell ML is a Motherwell post code) The food is great with a good selection. The service is first class.
Also the bar does a good pint as well!

I've just read a review for this restaurant and I'm really surprised. The review above claims that the owner was very dismissive of a complaint and I find this very hard to believe. Any time I have visited Da Claudios I have found the food to be of a very high standard and not only that the service has been faultess. The owner is always very friendly, (hes the scottish guy) and attentive. As for value for money I dont think you can beat it. 70 quid for a 3 course meal including seafood, which is expensive to buy in the supermarket, sounds reasonable to me. However there are cheaper lunch and early evening meals to suit every budget. I would definately recommend this resataurant!!I've just read a review for this restaurant and I'm really surprised. Mixed feelings on M&D's, largely because of it's location. Yes, easy access from Motorways and Major Roads, but is a Country Park really the setting for such a facility?

For me, I feel it spoils the park. Perhaps if it were set further back from the road and had more landscaping in front of it, this wouldn't be quite such an issue, but as it is, it kind of shouts out amidst the tranquility of the loch, the walks, etc, that are also in the park.

In itself M& D's has plenty to offer and we like the bowling alley in particular, but I keep coming back to location - it could be better, much better.Mixed feelings on M&D's, largely because of it's location. Rating: 4.00Working man's pub in the centre of Motherwell. I've been in three or four times now, and the lunch menu is actually quite good. Proper Steak Pie and overboiled veg. Very tasty. Very cheap.

Turns out my grandfather used to drink here, according to my dad. Seems to be a big Glasgow Celtic affiliated pub these days but not overbearingly so, although in common with most "football" pubs I wouldn't like to try it while wearing the wrong colours on a match day!

Very recently they've opened a paved beer garden out the back, with a fair number of tables, lots of umbrellas including an enormous central one with heaters and lights under the canopy, and two large TV screens protected from the weather by wooden structures. No bad for a cheap snack. However in the smaller shop i went in and asked for a roll on sausage. the wee lassie (still at school methinks) took my pound and stood gabbing to her wee pals about a guy she fancies for over five minutes then went into the kitchen and came back and said "sorry theres no rolls" Ah wiz pure ragin! So ah called her a wee cow now ah wouldnt piss on the place if it was on fire!No bad for a cheap snack. Food is sheer grease which is fine if your comin home from the pub blitzed.

Supreme quality. Fantastic Indian food they even do a Buckie Korma made with fresh cream and yes oh yes Buckfast. Shah is the man in charge full of friendly banter always moanin about bein married. His boy Joe does a mean Chicken Tikka kebab with cheese.

The Eagle Inn
What a place! Not only is it next to the train shunting yard and Motherwell Bridge yard it's also right next to an estate called Forgewood.
Apparently when Forgewood was built, it really was the place to get a council flat, large rooms and large communal grassed play areas for the kids. Somehow over the years this changed from a nice place to live to a dumping ground for undesirables. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are a lot of nice people still there, it's just that the others overshadow them. I know how bad it is there I owned a flat there for about 10 years. Fortunately I've always work away so I've really only spent about a year there in total over the years. This is an area that you don't need a TV, just pull up a chair, open the curtains and there you have something like a scene out a mafia movie with boxes of goods being magicked away.
Anyway, so this is where a lot of the clientele come from. To be fair to the bar, the beer was good and the crack was fantastic, stories you wouldn't believe but were hysterical all the same and there was never any trouble. So if you're in the area, have a pint. It is one of those pubs that was originally a pub, it just has a real feel of being a man's pub'. It even still has the trough around the bar.
I was in by myself one day and I began to listen in a conversation 2 window cleaners, who were the worse for wear, were having. One was telling the other a story but laughing all the way through, an infectious laugh that had me going in no time. Whilst trying to wash the pigeon sh*t off one window he realised something was wrong, the sh*t was on the inside. The tenants had turned one of their rooms into a do dookit (pigeon loft).
Honest, it was funny at the time.
Salt of the earth! At the right time, a great bar for stories.

Haven't been in for a while and only really went in because it's across the road from my wife's work. My wife works for the Social Work department (alarm bell should be ringing).
Yes the carpets are sticky but the Fosters draft is fresh & cold. They have had Spitfire on occasions, great if you like a pint you can chew but it does knock you senseless.
It's actually not a bad place but during the day and early evening it is full of Social Work clients & staff. 2 social groups I'd rather stay clear of, my wife excluded.

So if your passing and you fancy a pint you could do worse.

The Electric is the closest pub to my home so it has become my local.
Still a bit of a man's pub & a bit of a clubhouse for ex Dalziel pupils.
The crack is good but not for the thin skinned. There's a real cross section of people drink here, which is probably why the banter is so good. There are MD's to forklift drivers, from the eloquent to possible tourette sufferers (or is it us that suffer?), sorry Boab.
The pub was a bit run down and quiet when I first went there but Stuart & his brother have splashed some of the profits and the place is now a lot fresher. The pub is getting busy and there's more ladies coming in now (that's excluding the fanny at the end of the bar). This can't be a bad thing. Stuart has set up bands & DJ's etc, this hasn't always been successful but that is probably due to the local rag getting the dates wrong.
All in all the chat is lively and the beer is good, what more do you want in a pub. The only downside for me is that's there's too much football (not my thing) but there's usually a wee game of poker to be had.
Give it a visit I think you'll enjoy it, if you do you owe me a pint!
