Disney's Lion King - the theatrical musical journey of Simba the Lion and his clan through the plains of Serengeti - a real life wildlife park in Tanzania - is breath taking to say the least. The sets, the characters, the costumes, the singing, the music - it is simply amazing. The Lyceum Theatre has got this show on. If you are in London, and looking for some theatre to go to - do not miss this. It's great to see an independent cinema thriving in the sea of multiplexes and chains in the west end. Tickets start from about 1 pound 50 here which a heck of a lot cheaper than the Odeon round the conner. The movies always tend to be older or cult release that have finished their run in the bigger cinemas. I sometimes go here with friends when I am out in London as it is nearly always showing a good film despite only having one screen. Also the seats are great and really comfortable. Beneath the cinema thereâ¬"s a bar and you are allowed to bring drinks into the showings.It's great to see an independent cinema thriving in the sea of multiplexes and chains in the west end. After the refurbishment a few years ago this place has moved on leaps and bounds and has really good productions such has mama-mia. I found mama-mia just hilarious and the venue lends its self very well to these kinds of productions with its central location right in the middle of Leister square is great for coming in on the tube. If you want I cheap ticket here I would really advise searching the internet for cheap advance tickets. A really excellent resource for writers in the capital, London. In a good location, near to tube and bus stops the writers centre for the Soho theatre is a space for writers to come and do what they do best â¬ write! The Soho theatre has made a real long term commitment to new writing and the Writersâ¬" Centre is the hub and manifestation of this promise. New writing produced at the centre can sometimes be seen going on to the main stage of the Soho, either for a limited run, or sometimes even for an extended performance run with top actors. I went to see this with my mum for her b'day and i have to say that i thought it was wonderful. We both thouroughly enjoyed it and we had wonderful seats. We were about 4 rows from the front so we had great views. The Theatre was lovely, clean and the staff were helpful. The show was incredible and the actors/actresses were brilliant.
Lee Mead played the lead role(he won the role through the 'any dream will do' on the bbc) he was greatly suited. The show i think myself is great for any ages as children and adults aike both seemed to enjoy it.
The only thing i would say is if you intend to have a drink at the bar, come prepared with money as it is very expensive. My wife had been on at me for a while to take her to the theatre, so not being one for that sort of thing I had a look around at what was on and settled on seeing Wicked at the Apollo theatre. As this was somewhat based around the Wizard of Oz i thought how bad can it be. So I bought the tickets and off we went. I was a little apprehensive and expected to be bored. How wrong was I! From the moment it started I was blown away. This is quite simply one of the best experiences I can remember. The cast were fantastic. I came out singing the songs in my head and had to buy the soundtrack. Which was a little bit of a let down as it is the broadway cast. I wanted to hear the London cast belting out the tunes again. The story is well told and cleverly linked in to the Wizard of Oz. I would highly recommend this show. I'm by no means a theatre lover but would go and see this again in a heartbeat. An extremely moving production - far superior to, for example, the recent live celebration concert from the Albert Hall, starring the uncomparably awful Colm Wilkinson â¬Üsingingâ¬" Jean Valjean. See this live at the Queenâ¬"s Theatre if you want the authentic experience of this ground breaking mega musical extravaganza, based on the novel by Franceâ¬"s national poet and novelist, the great Victor Hugo. The book and lyrics are superb, with fine translation and / or adaptation from the French by Herbert Kretzmer. The orchestra are on fine form, and well led by the conductor and musical director. 2.One of the best musicals of all time, if not the best. Highest grossing entertainment franchise in the world ever. An excellent score, book and lyrics â¬ but when I went in 2006 I felt the cast was a slight let down. After listening to the golden voice of Michael Crawford (who originally played the Phantom) on the Original Cast Recording â¬ a must buy for any fan of the show â¬ I was a little disappointed with the actor who was playing the Phantom. He had very little stage presence, and not the outstanding voice I was expecting. He was good, but not great. However, the rest of the cast were good, although again Raoul did not quite match up to the supreme performance offered by Steve Barton on the Original Cast Recording. However, itâ¬"s not fair to compare a new cast to the definitive original â¬ if youâ¬"ve never seen or heard the show before you will absolutely love it! On a practical note, make sure to avoid the very first row or two, as you will be craning your neck through the entire show â¬ one seat right in the middle of the first row also has obstruction from the conductorâ¬"s head! People at Ticketmaster etc will lie and say these seats are fine. Although itâ¬"s great being so close to the stage and the performers, you will miss out on some other aspects of the presentation of the show.2.One of the best musicals of all time, if not the best. The Odeon has 5 screens each rather small and only seating around 50 people but is great if you are unable to find at the larger Odeon. The cinema has a rather charming and quaint quality. As it is the west end prices are higher if you are out in the west end it's great for watching a film and heading on to nearby china town. I watched the film juno here with several friends and we had the screen almost entirely to ourselves with the exception of a couple of tourists. This theatre is a little of the main roads and a bit hard to find. We rencently saw chicago there and we really enjoyed the show. Our seats were about 6 rows from the front so we could see really well, but the seats as in most of these old theatres are not all that comfy, not much leg room etc. We thought the lady who played mama morton was good as was roxy's long suffering hubby, ( a well known tv actor). The cast and band were great and it was an enjoyable evening for us. My only real grouch is the price of soft drinks and ice creams which were really high, too much if there are three or four of you. This is one of my favourite theatres, its so tiny, it only hold about 20 rows of people and if you are lucky enough to be in the front rows the show starts in amonsgt the audience. This theatre has shown the woman in black for years upon years which is one of my favourite plays. It only stars two characters, I wont go into too much detail as I donâ¬"t want to spoil it. If like me you had read the book first and been scared then you wont be dissapointed by the play. You can often get cheaper tickets on the day from the covent garden ticket offices. well it surely is expenisve at 15 pounds a ticket, and a date cud eaily put you out 30 pounds, but hey i m not trying to complain, its easily connected on the central line and is right off lecicester square, its quite a maginomious design, feels posh, the seats are very comfortable, and staff is well spoken. i think student discounts are offered, so better check before u get in,

A fun way to kill a couple of hours in London. All the usual arcades, air hockey, gaming, 10p machines etc. Also a bowling alley, sports bar and a bar offering lane service. Upstairs are dodgems, simulator rides, and video games. Great for kids, but it will cost a lot of money if they want to do it all, so worth restricting to a brief time period. I believe itâ¬"s over 18â¬"s only at night, but that may only be weekends. There is also a cineworld in the building, which is expensive being London. Overall though, itâ¬"s just an arcade, it may be famous but I wouldnâ¬"t say it makes it worth doing especially.A fun way to kill a couple of hours in London. Was really unsure what to expect from this intimate venue, as the only seating plan when booking was confusing to say the least. As the first a several Theatre visits over a weekend, this was the venue we knew least about but the show we were most excited about seeing. It did not disappoint. Sitting in the fourth row, you really felt as if you were part of the show- those in the front row actually had the actors almost stand on their toes in parts. The curved style of the seats enables most of the audience fantastic views, although the boxes appeared to have restricted views, and there is plenty of leg room. The actors were not mic-ed up so while we could hear everything very clearly, this may have been an issue in places for people sitting further back or in one of the boxes. A very high tech cinema in the heart of the west end. This cinema is easy to access via Car,Tube,and Bus.
The food is very reasonable for a london cinema and also very tasty! Especially the nachos and popcorn.
This cinema has many screens and shows most of the new film releases.
The staff are very helpful and are quick to help with any problems, they quickly removed 3 hooligans who were ruining the film for others!
The screenings of films are very regular and the cinema is open every day.

Originally this is the site of a theatre built in it's first incarnation in 1663, making it the oldest theatre in London, though it's 4th actual building as others have burnt down. This one has stood safe since 1812. I hear Andrew Lloyd Webber owns it now.
It's a grand venue, a lovely decorative portico at the front and inset busts of historic figures in the walls and internal recesses.
The entry is lovely and in this instance the front of house staff are well dressed.
There's a second area just by the stairs, a circular hallway, which in this case held a concession stand for the Lord Of The Rings show.
Then, down stairs to a bar, then bizarrely back up stairs to the stalls.
The theatre is a very stereotypical layout, with stall, dress circle, circle and balcony/gods in terms of seating. There are side boxes, but, as ever, with restricted views.
For this show the set leached into the auditorium, blending the space between Middle Earth and reality and it was a fantastic use of the space.
This show made use of every part of the stage with an enormous and complex revolving set, a good sign for the future in terms of it's capacity to create new innovation and design in theatre.
A great show in a lovely theatre.

(Using his phone and no clue how to actually get to the part I wanted to use, never mind what to do when I got there!) It was of the back of someone elses head but the staff member was awfully shirty, even when I showed him the accidental picture. I wasn't happy and it slightly spoiled my enjoyment of the show.

Later, when selling ice cream they ran out before even half of the enormous queue were served, rather silly given the advance bookings!
When purchasing at the concession stand they had no bags to take away your merchandise. For what otherwise appears to be a very professional looking and grandiose place the customer service and manners are distinctly lacking.

The Royal Opera house is a very nice building located right in the Centre of Londonâ¬"s West End and the performances they put on there are usually very good. However I find the ticket prices astoundingly expensive e.g. when I wanted to go and see Candide performed here. Generally, for the back seat at the opera you could afford 1-2 best seats to go and see Phantom of the Opera at Her Majestyâ¬"s Theatre on Haymarket. I realise not everyone likes musicals who likes opera but this is what I generally do. Save this for a very special occasion, otherwise do something else on your day/ night out.The Royal Opera house is a very nice building located right in the Centre of Londonâ¬"s West End and the performances they put on there are usually very good. However I find the ticket prices astoundingly expensive e.g. when I wanted to go and see Candide performed here. Generally, for the back seat at the opera you could afford 1-2 best seats to go and see Phantom of the Opera at Her Majestyâ¬"s Theatre on Haymarket. I wasn't keen. I mean, who really wants to see a musical featuring puppets? I went anyway, and hoped the rave reviews I had read weren't all written by the producerâ¬¦

As it turned out, Avenue Q was fantastic - hilarious, crude, offensive, risquÃ© - the type of show that makes you cry from laughter.

A couple of parts bored me a little, and it went on for a bit too long IMO, but overall I thoroughly enjoyed it.
