This place is actually quite good for a night out, without the pretentiousness of some of londons leading clubs, It has a floor dedicated to dancing (in the basement), and on the entrance floor (ground), there is a large sitting area to socialise, this is great, it allows you to chat and talk without the need for shouting, and when you want the music loud you simply go downstairs and enjoy.

The Music ranges from the latest RnB, to House Classics. The drink selection is pretty impressive, they have proberbly one of the best top shelf selections I have encountered in London, ranging from Pinga 51 to JW Blue Label, and JW Swing. Pricewise very reasonable, a Jack and coke for Â£6.50.

Dont expect celebritys, or there hanger - ons, just expect nice, friendly people, a great atmosphere, sensible pricing, and most of all a great way to spend a saturday night.

Let's all do the loco-motion.

Motion is literally next door to the Embankment tube station and hence is an ideal location for that after work drinks party.

They have an excellent events management team and make it as easy as possible for you to organize your works/social occasions.

They also have weekly karaoke and tribute nights, all you 'Dancing Queens' will need to book your bags into the cloakroom. Let's all do the loco-motion.

Many of the gigs here are fantastic. It was refurbished not long ago so the place is clean and looks great with a 'pit' in the middle (where a few tables are) and on the sides are rows of tables tiering up so you can get a good view of the band from most vantage points. It is THE place to hang out at if you enjoy sampling jazz. Food and drink in the joint are pretty average but the desserts are very good, especially the strawberry cheesecake.Many of the gigs here are fantastic. I have had luncheon and dinner here now several times
and have always enjoyed the experience. The menu is broad-ranging and somewhat eclectic. I had an excellent salad and
a macaroni cheese - my host opted for fishcakes. The service is always courteous but can be a bit slow. Yesterday, I was offered a pasta dish off the menu when
the maitre d thought erroneously that I was a vegetarian.
It is very cosy being located underground below London's Strand and perhaps a better winter location.
The clientele seems to be mainly young professionals.I have had luncheon and dinner here now several times

The best thing about this place is the LED displays they've created on the walls. Hard to describe...let's just say that you shouldn't look at it, if you're epileptic.

If you recall, two reviews ago I started with the evening in Loungelover and referenced a flock of hens that were there- now after popular demand I'm continuing the story. So&.not your typical hen party (they did have it at Loungelover after all !;-) - very classy, sophisticated, good looking - anyway too good to turn an invite down (note how I'm carefully constructing the imagery here of me having a quiet drink with a buddy and getting harassed by a bunch of women to follow them into a club - I believe it's called 'poetic license'). Anyways, you guys were not there so it may even have been true.
On to Cuckoo - I'm not a great fan of central London clubs. Don't get me wrong, most of the times I go I have a great time, but they're not really high on my priority list. Usually it's the result of earlier randomness rather than some careful planning. For example, last time I was in this particular venue it was called 'The Stork Rooms', the year was 2001 and Freddy Ljungberg had a pink Mohecan - I remember that cause he was there.
Anways, on with Cuckoo. The music is good, mainstream club music, mixing the popular hip-hop and R&B, flowing on to house and throwing in the occasional, discordant (relatively) Lenny Kravitz. Other than the £20 entrance fee, which is market rate I guess, but still a bit questionable when compared with other options, the drinks are also reasonably priced. The best part was the Greek bar dude, who provided a round on the house. This was the second time on that night that I was surprised to find a fellow countryman behind the bar, but again this is the subject of another review, although I may refrain from that one as some people may take offence.
Typical west end clubbing crowd, a bit more on the upmarket side, with plenty of beautiful women. Overall friendly atmosphere and good attitude from the staff. If you are looking to party late in Central London, then this is one of the better places to do so.
May be a bit tricky to get in on a busy night, so find a friend or someone to get you on the guest list if you can. Or just get in touch with them here:

I went a couple of weeks ago with my boyfriend and it was the first jazz club I've been to in London. I've been to jazz clubs in New York and Toronto so I was surprised when I walked in. Decent cover charge of 5 pounds, but the place is REALLY, REALLY small. The drinks list isn't very good nor is their wine list, it's not somewhere you go to enjoy a really good glass of wine, but I really enjoyed the act they had on that night. Unfortunately I can't remember their name, but it was a female lead singer with a 5 piece band.

Our waiter was lovely; we walked in and had to be seated in the front of the club (it's sectioned off into 2 rooms, the entrance and the back where the mini stage is) where we couldn't see anything, but our lovely waiter took us to the back and made a little space for us in an alcove to the right of the stage where the bands normally store spare equipment. It was cozy and we had a really good view of the band. The venue itself is a bit strange: the front room reminds me a bit of an American-style bar what with the neon beer signs, and the back room where the bands perform reminds me of an old-school Italian-American restaurant.

It's an extremely small venue but well worth it; check your pretensions at the door, this is not a fancy, "swish" hot spot, but I quite liked it and would definitely go there again. Word to the wise from our waiter - under no circumstances order something from the kitchen as apparently the food is terrible. A very entertaining evening recently. The girls I was with were mesmerized by Miss Sahara's legs "it's not fair when men have betterlegs than women!".

The service was good, performers good, though the girls enjoyed the sailor stripper at the start more than anyuthing else. Movement, a weekly Drum and Bass event, draws a mixed crowd of tourists and regulars. The music policy is great, and the vibe is quite strong due to the confined space and insatiable beats. I love this place, great character, lovely restaurand and you find all sorts of things going on. Last Friday there was a wine tasting, next Friday it's set aside for Women in Business by freshideasevents.com. Been here a few times and to be honest i should have limited my exposure to just the once! full of wannabe's who are glad they got in, the drinks are expensive, the dancefloor small, the music is naff.
