I had my Hen night at the Funny Side, we ate upstairs at the Corner Store. It took an hour to be served our food and we had 15 minutes to eat it before the comedy show started. I had made the restaurant staff aware that we were booking both and they advised us it would be ok. We just about got to eat our main course - no time for desert. They had ran out of fish, chicken and cheese (all by 6pm) - the staff got our drinks wrong and one of my friends meals wasn't put on the order so she got given a bowl of chips.

Comedy show was brilliant - no probs with going back there. Then we went back upstairs for a few more drinks and decided to have some shots. We were left waiting at the bar for almost 15 minutes whilst they served everyone else because they couldn't find the person who knew how to do the shots!! How stupid! So we ordered a cocktail and left.

I would def go back to the comedy club, but I would never eat or drink in the Corner Store ever again. The place is chilled out (if a bit hot inside on warmer days, oxymoron alert!). If peckish try the chips with lashings of peanut sauce and mayo. Quite a nice way to soak up some of the beers on tap. With the Euro's (2008) going on at the moment, this is usually rammed with dutch fans (from memory of euro 2004)

I was recommended here, and i got to say this is one of my favourite bars in London, they do all sort of cocktails and it is not as crowded, the decor is also amazing. I guess it is not as crowded because its hidden away in the heart of Soho, or the layout makes it look that way. Although sometime the Djs could be better.

This pub ticks all the boxes as a tip-top local pub: quiet, always a seat, no music, great beer, a sense of community and fun characters to watch. I even spotted a chap drinking from his usual pewter mug (presumably in his usual seat too).

This is a Samuel Smith pub (nothing to do with John Smiths, despite the rumours) so everything is furnished with their traditional brand and quality. The Oatmeal Stout is well worth trying...close your eyes and it feels like slipping back into a bygone era.

Pub food looks pretty basic but traditional. Will report back on that one.

If its an old fashioned local you are after then this hits the spot. Went to Strawberry Moons a few weeks ago with some friends - dance floor was absolutely packed...so ended up on stage...under the spotlight...on the pole...again!
Second visit this year - until 2008 haven't been there for about 5 years or more. Even more lively than I recall, everyone out for a good time, very friendly.
I even got chatted up by one of the Shot Girls - yow!Went to Strawberry Moons a few weeks ago with some friends - dance floor was absolutely packed...so ended up on stage...under the spotlight...on the pole...again!

Here's a place you can eat and drink right at the heart of Westminster just across the road from the Houses of Parliament. We met for a business meeting and people chose a range of different dishes - fish and chips, ham, egg and chips and I chose potato wedges with mushrooms, tomatoes, onions and melted cheese - this was served with a garnish of fresh salad and was quite frankly yummy. This and my drink came to around Â£5.50 - wow - how cool is it to be able to go and eat in Central London and not get ripped off! Very good value for money. The waiter looked a little confused between orders and tables, but he was pleasant and happy to help and we didn't have to wait too long for our food.

Down sides - not a lot of room. Up side - good air conditioning so it was restful and relaxing and you weren't struggling with feeling stifled. Would definitely go there again. A good sturdy basement bar under a great indian resturant.

Good decor and a decient DJ make this a pleasent bar for week niht drinks. You can reserve an area for small birthdays and the like.

Like most of Soho, its best enjoyed on week nights as Saturday night see's the whole area fill with out-of-towners,stag doos and brash blonds with L plates.

Drinks are on the pricey side but that shouldn't bother the middle class urban professionals that drink there.

We went to the Crown and Sceptre last Saturday for lunch. Itâ¬"s a very trendy pub but manages to still be welcoming and comfortable. The staff are friendly and service is pretty swift. They have a wide range of the more interesting beers and a good wine list.

The menu is simple but the food is good quality and well cooked. We had the Burger and Maris Piper chips and cod and chips. The chips were perfect, the best I have had for years! The burger and cod were both well above average.

As itâ¬"s one of my locals, I have been here many, many times. Thursday and Friday nights are packed and in the summer there is a good crowd outside. Weekends are quieter and they have board games to play. Thereâ¬"s a quirky mix of 40s â¬ 80s furniture that includes sofas, tables and a rather nice 40â¬"s sideboard.

I think this is probably the best gastro-pub in the area.

This place is grim and noisy. The stark furniture and the lively after work crowd mean that you have to shout to be heard (something that everyone else seems to have figured out already).

My friend summarised it well by saying it was "a place to shout at each other after work".

I had passed it many times on the way home and wondered what it was like.

The cranky old landlady is gone!! The new owner welcomes everyone, and the friendly staff seems to go out of their way to make all guests feel at home. They even did table service!

I hadn't been in this place for ages, but recently started working again near Lincoln's Inn Fields. None of us dared set foot in this place earlier, as the land lady was even cranky to non-students. But what a difference now!

The new owner is really using this fantastic little place to it's potential. Great selection of bitters, and not the tired usual Adnams, Greene King, Courage, but some off-the-beaten-track ones like Timothy Taylor's Landlord and the is particularly outstanding Woodforde's Wherry!

This is one of an increasingly rare breed of lovely little out of the way boozers that are being fast replaced by soulless chain pubs. Don't miss this one!!! The cranky old landlady is gone!! This place is ok in the summer, for a drink outside, as is situated on a corner of a side street of dean street, winter time, there isnt room to swing a cat in the place, and due to its busyness, and size, it can take a while to get near the bar especially in Summer.
The crowd is mixed, id say 50/50 straight / gay. The Candy bar is next door.
Pricewise acceptable, better places near by.

Though I cant stand chains, I cant seem to find anything really wrong with this place, they offer great service, great music, great range of drinks, called quality nachos, and even free wi-fi access.

The bouncers are friendly enough, the toilet attendent offers aftershave like any other trendy bar round the area, and the girls, should you be interested, are nice looking friendly.

This place has a great atmosphere, great service, reasonably priced, and a good place to start the evening on a good night out round soho.

The service of the staff, is mixed. Some are good, some are slow, and some are rude.

This place is good if you around carnaby street, want a drink, and a sharing platter for a group of you, at Happy hour prices, later than happy hour the drinks are well overpriced, and the place does turn into a little bit of meat market, as they have a makeshift club downstairs. Crowd, is a mixture, of young professionals, tourists, an element of chav later on.

My advice, their are plenty of better places near by, catering for all kinds of people.

I went in here a few times for a drink, because its the one place, you can have a quiet chat about work, or something, where nobody expects to find you.

The reason no one would look for you, is that this place is simply awful, the bar staff were very unattentive, it took me a good few minutes to get served, because fetching crisps is more important, than a waiting customer. dispite the bar not being at all busy.
Secondly the place is filthy, the tables were sticky, just a really bad place to go for a beer.

The John Snow is an brilliant Sam Smith's pub, centrally located and very cheap. If you like your beer and a pub with some character, then this is a great option. After being spoilt by the beautiful surroundings of the Nottingham Pitcher & Piano (its in an old church), I found this Pitcher & Piano to be far less to look at. It was a quiet evening, but the place was in reasonable use, no empty tables. I found the bar staff to be friendly.

Maybe because it was the day after boxing day, but I found it to be a very lacking service. The waiter had to be called on every occasion, showing that he was either new or just didn't care. The food was sub par - being at my kindest, and the dessert was so awful that I felt obliged to complain on behalf of my dinner guests. The manager wasn't particularly apologetic, another thing that irked, but at least took it off our bill.

Me and a few college mates and our lecturer wanted to find somewhere near Victoria that is fairly cheap and were recommended this place for their happy hour drinks. It's just off Wilton road and about 5 minutes walk from the station which is handy for stumbling home.

Happy hour is between 5 and 8. They have a small selection of cocktails for Â£3.50, bottles for Â£2 and wine. We sure did make the most of Â£3.50 cocktails! I recommend the spicy nut, yummy cinnamonny goodness :D

About the place, it's not especially nice. They have comfy seats and their clientele is fairly young. It could be a student's pub really. I'm not sure if it is but it gave the impression of being a bit grotty aswell. When I went, their women's toilets were out of order so the male toilets became unisex toilets. Totally disgusting in there! It was quite funny watching the women who came out who all had a funny expression but I don't want to go through the experience of that again! Spread over two floors with a typical bar layout downstairs, and sofas and pool tables on the 2nd floor, the Surgeon is roomy and comfortable.

I've run meet-ups here many times and almost always drop in for a quick drink or some very good food when I'm around Leicester Square. One of the things which keep me coming back has to be the wonderful staff.
for instance, are you under one of the speakers and finding the - usually good - music a bit too loud for conversation? They'll turn it down for you, just ask. They're never less than happy to help and - wonder of wonders - come up to you with a genuine smile. A far cry from some of the surly nonsense you can find elsewhere.

It sounded tempting on the menu "Whole Seabass, Green Beans and Salte Potates" - when it arrived the Seabass looked as if it had been in the freezer for 40 years, it was so hard I could not cut off the head to eat. It arrived with the green beans but no potatoes, after a few minutes I asked the waitress for the potatoes to be told "we have not got any - do you want chips?" (I think had I not mentioned them she thought I wouldn't have noticed they were not there). Two bowls of chips came into the Dining Room but were severed to other customers, once I had finished my meal I was served with a bowl of chips to be asked "Do you want ketchup".

There was no apology for the poor service and poor standard of food. I think this is kind of thing is awful no only for us English but for Foreign Tourists who come to our country expecting good food and a certain standard. Great place! It helped that we knew someone from inside.
It is a member bar so not sure how difficult it is to get in.

on each drink! The place is a bit dark but it has good energy.
