The palace is always surrounded by huge crowds of people, exactly who they think they may catch a glimpse of, I can never guess. But I too have stood in awe and hoped to see some thing in fact anything f interest.
Sadly I have not seen much apart form the odd smartly dressed soldier stood in splendid red, bearskin held high, whilst people call out for him to smile for a photo. The water fountain in front of the palace is lovely also and there is the park right next to it all.
I think it is closed inside now until next year so will have to make do with a view of the outside for now.The palace is such a hugh and imposing building, so much part of englands history and a centre for all things at times of celebration in the uk.
Big Ben - Time to see it by vik

The clock tower is huge in real life and it is the clock bell that carries the name not the building. every thing is right here, the houses of parliament, the london eyer, west minster bridge, need I say more. If you have not seen it all for your self then you really should, it is a great day out and you will enjoy milling around with the crowd as we did.Big ben is such a wonderful place to see, you need to park the car and get out to go see it in its full glory, or better still take the bus and drive past to take in its breath taking beauty.
Westminster Cathedral - Imposing by vik

The building is so beautiful and very interesting from both inside and out side. The mosaics which are inside the building are very beautiful and well worth seeing. The fact that so many important events have been held here only adds to the attraction of visiting the cathedral. We looked around for ages and would certainly go and see it again some time. It is very easy to get to, london transport will help you out there. You should go and visit this unique part of englands heritage. Perhaps not suitable for children if they are easily bored, more of an adult day out or catch one of the grand organ recitals which are on a sunday. This place is situated right in the heart of westminster and is truly a wonderful sight to see. The street is blocked off by security which is really the only thing that gives it away that you have found the right street. You can't see the famous black front door that you see on TV; all you can see are blockades and security guards. You are also very very unlikely to see the prime minister! I wouldn't really recommend that you go out of your way to find it - there are plenty of other things to spend your time doing if you have some time to spend in London!I wouldn't really call this a sightseeing attraction since you aren't even allowed to see it! Number one, its pretty hard to find, and even if you do manage to find it it's not really worth the trip. Iâ¬"m not quite sure what or who this place is trying to cater for. Itâ¬"s true that there are a lot of kids hanging around the arcade but isnâ¬"t that who itâ¬"s aimed at. There is also a bar and pool area tucked away, if you can find it. There are various shops there but itâ¬"s not somewhere you immediately think to go shopping at either. So, I think this place is lacking in some direction and being in the centre of London, it could try harder. Actually being able to visit the House of Commons and the House of Lords was amazing. The two rooms actually look smaller in real life than they do on TV! There is a lot of history in the houses of parliament which is interesting. You can also go and see real debates going on in real life as well! But be prepared some of the topics can be a bit dull. There are tours which are good although I went with a group and so not on a tour. The buildings are beautiful and I would definitely recommend visiting this place. The visit to the houses of parliament was truly memorable. During the week, you can spend large amounts of money getting tours, but we found the most enjoyable way to experience the Abbey was to attend a Sunday service. While not being religious ourselves, we were warmly welcomed to attend the Evensong service in early May 2008.

For that service we were seated right by the high altar (where the coronations take place) and got to see all of the architecture and historic statues while listening to lovely choral music. The service lasted about 45 minutes and did not make us uncomfortable with serious religious dogma. Best of all, it was free! (You may make a donation as they pass a collection pouch at the end of the service.)

While you can't walk around the Abbey before and after the service to see all of the areas, we found the sights available to us were plenty and the chance to be so close to the high altar made this a very memorable experience.Westminster Abbey is a treasure trove of history and art.
