Good initial point of note is that admission is free, always a good bonus. In the main entrance hall they have what they call the Large Exhibits gallery and the first thing you notice here are the full scale aircraft above you hanging from the ceiling, including a Spitfire and a Sopwith Camel. Then look around to see the ground displays of the army tanks and naval displays. And all that is just the first room from 6 floors of displays. Other interesting areas were the Special Forces displays showing the equipment they used in the past and the modern day. Another display very much worth seeing is the exhibition dedicated to the Holocaust which is really moving and humbling. There is an awful lot to see here in this museum so you need to plan to spend at least a day to take everything in. But upon arrival, I was asking myself if I was in the wrong building! First of all, it was very isolated from most of London attractions. Not easy to find or to get to. The staff strutted around in black t-shirts, acting like a bunch of pretentious hairstylists. I ended up asking a janitor questions about a specific painting because the staff hadn't a clue!

There were definitely some beautiful works of art, but the tone of the environment left a bad taste in my mouth. I'll probably never waste my time there again as there are so many other great places to visit in London. After hearing Tate Britain this, Tate Britain that, I really had high expectations. Funded by the Lottery, Arts Council, local government regeneration bodies and more, its a state of the art centre thats been designed with dance-stlye movement in mind. My capoeira group (KABULA) are now using the space for classes every Weds from 8-9.30pm. Its an incredible space, with a huge rooftop studio that is light and airy and gives you the impression of being on top of the city. They have lots of regular classes there and you can hire the spaces for your own groups or events. Well worth checking out. This is a brand spanking new dance studio facility in Elephant & Castle.
