My favourite food to takeaway is chicken so I often stop off in Dixie Chicken to get some chicken burgers, usually with chips. The food is normally very hot and fresh. My husband & I both love eating here as the food is delicious and filling. It makes a great main meal or if youâ¬"re really hungry a nice snack. Admitingly this place is bad for vegetarians but other than that I think that most people would love it. Itâ¬"s always clean and the staff are normally polite. This is a great place to grab some chicken on the go and there arenâ¬"t normally very long queues which is a great bonus.

This place is without doubt the best vegan Chinese restaurant in London. Offering a wide range of meat-substitute (soya standing in for chicken, pork, beef and fish) and vegetable based standard and unusual oriental dishes at an extremely affordable price - dinner for two easily comes under Â£30. They also offer a lunchtime buffet for a fixed price and takeaway service to the surrounding area. Service is extremely friendly and attentive without being overbearing and the restaurant itself is only a few minutes walk from Archway station. Morrisons rocks - cheap prices for good quality produce (on the whole). Very important during the 'credit crunch', as the alternative nearby supermarket is Waitrose (expensive).

Look out for the weekly special offers if you're shopping on a budget. And if you are buying bread, you must try their tiger bread, it is gorgeous.

Petrol is cheap at Morrisons, so if you drive, make sure you fill up here.

The cafes are cheap and cheerful - fish and chips is always a good option. Toilets and baby changing facilities are handy in this area as well. Easy to get to on the main Holloway Road.

Great cosy local pub with a fab quiz on a Tuesday night. Food is the usual fare at average London prices. I went here last night and it was fantastic. Great atmosphere - huge portions and very friendly staff. The drinks are pretty cheap too. The food tastes great and their Tandoori Chicken Tikka Massala is the best I have ever tried.

Being an express store this is very small selling only the most expensive items. saying that, this is a very handy store for picking up a magazine of newspaper. I have never had a problem with queues as there are a few express stores in the road including a supermarket next door, but i do sometimes have trouble looking for particular items. They stock bread but this usually sells out and a large veg section. The next best thing is Tesco online. Staff are always very quiet, cant remember ever being spoken to but they are never rude. i used to go to this pub and it was a big surprise when i entered again because it is under new ownership and it went from a relatively poor condition to a more sophisticated and upmarket place. They have done the gardens and the interior, they also have two big plasma tvs with a mainstage which contains an overhead projector and is commonly used for social events. and soon it will contain an italian restaurant.
it's well worth paying a visits, i give it high regards.

This convenient Somerfield is located on the main High Street and though it is small, it still provides quite a range of things on offer and they also have deals on things as well.

Though this place can get busy and crowded, if you are unable to get elsewhere to shop, then this place can provide what you need, but you will have to pay for it here. It's a trade off between convenience and time saving, against variety and price. I really like the Earth Natural Foods store. Yes it is shockingly expensive for some goods like all organic shops are. But, if you're clever and have the time you can sucessfully combine shopping here with other stores and still win price wise.

They often have a reduced basket near the tea section and a reduced bread shelf opposite the cereals.

I tend to buy non fresh product here such as cordials, preserves, sauces and tinned goods that will change the taste of my cooking and may sit in my kitchen cupboard for a while to be used more than once.

I do, however treat myself at their cheese counter where the assistant is very knowledgable and helpful.

Its the choice that I like, I enjoys seeing product that is unfamiliar and that I want to try. i like reading the labels and I feel that it is a learning experience every time I visit.

I also like the fact that it is on my doorstep and stepping inside always means a food treat!!I really like the Earth Natural Foods store. This Indian restaurant has incredible food, although I would expect it to have such quality given itâ¬"s very very high prices. We went as a party of eight, and ended up having a bill of about three hundred pounds! Perhaps it was all the alcohol we bought with the meal?! Anyway, we were all blown away with our main courses, but on the down side, the desserts were a little disappointing. Still, perhaps we were paying for the staffâ¬"s very fancy uniforms? They were very smart indeed. A comfortable seven out of ten to this nice, but expensive curry house. Having just moved to the area, I'm trying out everywhere and was told that Annies had had a refurb. On wandering in on a rainy British summers night my first impressions were 'fab', the decor was over the top royal red and golds, with flocked wallpaper - garish but i liked it. I had a coiuple of glasses of wine with a friends and relaxed in the comfy throne like chairs quite happily.

I intended to take my mum the next week as the crowd seemed more mature.

However on passing last Friday there appeared to be a caberet singer!!!!!!

the clientele all had blue rinses and clip on earrings and however nice the bar fit was - the pub now appeared in a time warp.

I had thought that the old crowd that used to reside in Annies before the refit had continued to drink there creating an amalgamation of new, old, benny hil, camp, bank turned wine bar with extensive drinks list that no one is trained to create vibe. However, after the cabaret glimpse maybe their intentions were to capture and market the already existing crowd that reside there and that Annies has been saved from another skinny jean, magners drinking venue of which we have many?????

I will try Annies again but i'm confused as to whether I fit in there.

Wine was, though a rather tasty red [miles better than a previous glass that I had in teh Oxford!!]

I LOVE THE WALK UP LEVERTON STREET PASSED THE MULTI COLOURED HOUSES, I LOVE THE TRANSITION FROM HAVING A DRINK ON THE BENCHES OUTSIDE AND WATCHING LOCAL KIDS RIDE ROUND ON BIKES LIKE A DAVID MCKEE PICTURE BOOK, TO THE WARM WELCOME OF THE FRONT BAR WHERE THE LOCALS SIT AND LAUGH.

PERHAPS SNUGGLING UP IN ONE OF THE CORNERS OF THE BACK BAR WHERE YOU CAN PLAY TRADITIONAL GAMES? OR BRINGING ALL YOUR MATES ON A FRIDAY FOR A THAI BEFORE YOU GO OUT TO TOWN. CIGGIE IN THE GARDEN?

I have suffered with chronic migraines for 25 yrs and have been receiving hospital treatment which has not helped. I also have a neck injury that is very painful. I have been going to Herbs and Health for a couple of years now after a recommendation.

My Migraines have almost gone and my neck no longer bothers me.

It is a simple treatment room but 'lady' as I call her always make me feel better - happier and well again every time I am able to go. It is very very resonably priced and I think her a miracle worker! Honestly - go and see for yourself and say Louise sent you!

The Lion and the Unicorn is a local pub situated near to Kentish Town tube station that has a animated ambience. They have a good choice of beers and the bartenders are quite friendly. Quite often plays take place in the basement and they are usually good.
This is a good pub to meet some friends in the beer garden if the weather is good.
They don't serve food as far as I can think, but sell the usual crisps bags.

A few weeks ago I issued a challenge to the good food-loving people of the internet to find me a decent, mid-range Italian restaurant. I was just looking for somewhere sensible between the exemplary ingredients and stratospheric pricing of the River CafÃ© and the high street dross of Bella Pasta - I needed convincing that Italian restaurants are occasionally worth bothering with in London. So off the back of one particular recommendation, I found myself travelling all the way up to Tufnell Park after work on Thursday to a little place called Spaghetti House. It's a bit of a local institution apparently; the chef, Enzo, has been here manning the stoves (and the phones when I called) for over 20 years and runs the place single-handedly - when he's ill or on holiday, it's closed. This is clearly not someone from the Gordon Ramsay school of restaurant management.

From the outside it looks like your average greasy spoon caff (out of interest, why are they called 'greasy spoon'? What on earth could you be eating with a spoon that was greasy? Suggestions please), inside the dÃ©cor struck that fine balance between 'homely' and 'bonkers'. The laminated menu was tempting in its simplicity, but the list of specials appeared to go on and on and was scrawled in chalk in every available gap of wall space. Assorted paraphernalia dangled from the ceiling, a sign by the door said 'welcome' in 20 world languages, and just the other side of a tiki-bar faÃ§ade there indeed was Enzo, working feverishly away amidst the noise and steam of the kitchen.

At such ludicrously low prices it would have been churlish of me not to try and sample as much as I could, so I ordered a starter and dessert, very unlike me. The home-made minestrone soup was hearty and huge, if a little bland, but who's complaining at Â£2 a pop. A friend pushed the boat out with a bruschetta at Â£3.50, which was much nicer, dressed with a lovely rich tomato salsa.

The roast duck main course was generous in flavour and portion, with a thick orangey sauce and nice fatty meat. It's not haute cuisine by any means, just boiled veg and roast potatoes with seared duck leg, but it was actually rather good, and not just because it cost Â£8. I did try a bit of my friend's broccoli pasta (Â£5) and yes, that was pretty good too. No better than you could make yourself, admittedly, but comforting and simple and - and this is worth repeating - Â£5 for a huge plate of food.

Ice cream also came in a gut-bursting portion size, as did a pleasant enough slab of cherry pie which could have done with a bit more warming through but, stuffed with gloopy fruit and sprinkled with sugar, didn't last long anyway.

So after moaning about the dearth of affordable decent Italian restaurants in London I appear to have found something of a rare commodity - a genuine restaurant bargain. To be fair, not every Londoner is likely to travel up to Tuffnel Park for a bruschetta but judging by the clientele on Thursday night, word probably doesn't need to travel much further than NW5 for every table to be taken. And on the subject of the clientele, I have never seen a more delightfully complete section of society in one restaurant - a table of septuagenarians, a young professional couple, cabbies, families, it felt almost contrived, like I was eating on the set of a soap opera.

I do have one complaint though. After the main courses were served, the waitress came over with a black pepper mill. Part of me wanted to wrestle it off her, but as I was enjoying the evening so much I waited patiently as she seasoned the plate in front of me. And on the subject of the clientele, I have never seen a more delightfully complete section of society in one restaurant - a table of septuagenarians, a young professional couple, cabbies, families, it felt almost contrived, like I was eating on the set of a soap opera.

I do have one complaint though. After the main courses were served, the waitress came over with a black pepper mill. Part of me wanted to wrestle it off her, but as I was enjoying the evening so much I waited patiently as she seasoned the plate in front of me. Unconventional and quirky in so many ways, I will allow Spaghetti House this one pretention. It doesn't seem to be doing it any harm.

I was really pleased to discover this small fishmonger, and having read the blurb on here was impressed enough to try it; I really appreciate great food, and try to shop in small shops rather than supermarkets where possible. I picked up some oysters the other day which were really great - nice and plump, and lovely flavour to them.

My flatmate, who isn't as confident buying food, wanted to cook a great meal for someone - I suggested that he go to B & M to get some really good fish; I said that he should take advice from them on what to buy, and tell them what he wanted to do. This is the advantage of fishmongers over supermarkets.

He settled on some fillets of sea bass, asking for three fillets - there were four out on display. The fishmonger asked him if he would like to take all four for Â£15; he thought a bit, but decided that no, he would stick with the three - which were rung up, coming to Â£8.37. The guy had clearly thought that, towards the end of a friday afternoon, he'd try to shift what he had left, and added a few quid on, knowing that my flatmate probably wouldn't have a clue what it should come to.

When he got back and told me this story, I was really shocked that a small shop like this would try to take advantage of someone looking for advice. Having recommended the place to him, I'm particularly annoyed - however good their oysters, I certainly won't be going back for anything, and having been so impressed initially that I would instantly recommend them, I now would dissuade people from shopping there, for the risk of being ripped off.

One of the best take-aways around Tufnell Park/North Kentish Town, Eat Zone offers a variety of Singaporean, Malayesian and generally south-east flavoured dishes. It's quite unique, as I'd never had Laksa before and quite enjoyed it. Very generous portions and you can easily feed four of you for about Â£20-Â£25.
Added bonus: I've bumnped into Julian Barratt twice when there. Unfortunately, I just managed a respectful node, which was reciprocated, but not much of a conversation. If you don't know who Julian Barratt is then please google him as you've been missing some great comedy from your lives.
