Went for late lunch on a Sunday to celebrate a birthday and were more than satisfied. The food was delicious and good value for money. The staff were friendly, welcoming and the service was prompt and polite. Overall, would highly recommend this restaurant.

I spent a year working in Brixton and Honest Foods was my favourite spot for lunch. They have daily changing specials which may include organic steak sandwich or artisan BLT, and can sell you a great range of artisan breads and cheeses (including the peerless Stinking Bishop). I love coming here to just go on the (free) internet on a relaxing afternoon and enjoy their lapsang suchong. They have a toilet aswell which is handy. I haven't tried much of the food but I've seen a lot of it and it looks (and smells) pretty good. The smoothies are nice but I'm not sure if it's worth the price (only because I know I can make it at home). They can get pretty busy at lunch time at the weekend just to warn you. Whenever I go around the area close to Oval tube station I find that the lack of interesting local coffee shops is quite acute. Yesterday we went there to meet with a contact of ours and discovered Cafe Van Gogh which is found at the corner of Brixton Road and Mowll Street. First of all the Cafe seems to be coming out of the church that surrounds it. What is great is that you have an interesting "church" architecture which enables the cafe to have access to a small pleasant court yard garden.

From the sound of it most of the staff that work at Cafe Van Gogh are of Italian origin, which explains why there lasagna looked quite tasty. The people who were there when we arrived seemed of all ages and lead me to believe that you would feel comfortable coming here with your baby as you would with a few friends to sip a glass of wine.
