A great little place, with always fast, friendly service - and bacon sandwiches that will save your life the morning after the night before. Cosy and cheerful, a good selection of sandwich fillings. The food looks fresh and nicely presented, staff are friendly.

With Pret A Manger, you always know what youâ¬"re going to get â¬ same types of sandwiches, same types of drinks, same selection, same everything. The staff work to a specific plan when creating everything, to ensure everyone gets the same experience, and that adds a nice comforting factor when visiting â¬ you are all ensured of getting more or less the same food, the same drink, whichever one you visit.

Having said that, there is one caveat about this particular Pret that you need to be aware of. It is right in the heart of the business district and is very over-subscribed around lunchtimes. Donâ¬"t even think about stopping by here from 11.30 to 14.30, the city types will crush you under their wheels, and typically theyâ¬"ve come from the office to grab a sarnie and get back to eat it, so thereâ¬"s not a lot of leeway for people just wanting to look around, scope the area out.

Such a useful location - just a short walk north (at least, I think I am going North!) of Moorgate tube. My real favourite thing, despite the fact that Pret's food is so good, is to have a coffee from Pret and a sushi from the almost next door Itsu. (Yes, Pret do sushi. It's just not quite as good or varied).

The staff always seem to be enjoying their jobs at Pret - they are the friendliest you will find!

I really like the Mocca from Prets - I have visited A LOT of Pret outlets (almost every outlet in London!) and sadly I can state with some confidence that what makes a cup of nectar is the individual staff member, rather than the individual store. Pret definitely have the best, most reliable sandwiches of any of the coffee shops. Their soup is also excellent, so you can reliably get a lovely lunch suitable to any time of the year. I always like Pret food - in fact they are my overall favourite coffee shop, based on good (not outstanding, but good) coffee combined with excellent food. (I think Caffe Nero and Abokado do better coffee, but Pret has a far better range of food). And where on earth do Pret get their staff? I find it totally bizaare that the instructions tell you the nearest tube is Tower Hill. I have always used this as my local Pret when alighting at Aldgate, and if you go to http://maps.google.co.uk/ and input the postcode, I think you will agree that this is the nearest tube!

An OK spot to grab a quick lunch, but you can spend a fortune here and have very little to show for it. Sushi boxes run up to about Â£7 and rarely contain more than a couple of measly bits of sashimi. And the hot foods are ludicrously overpriced - I think it's Â£2 EACH for tiny chicken satays.

They also have a great big display of individually-plastic wrapped sushi, so if you'd rather spend your lunchtime laboriously unwrapping sushi instead of actually eating it, then you can do that too. In fact maybe it would work as some sort of strange diet where you use up more calories getting to your food than you can put on by eating it.
