This has to be my worst dining experience in over 15 years of living in London. The service was terrible--waitress yawning over the food as she dumped it before us. Reheated, and hence very dry, tough, chicken, which hadn't even been reheated thoroughly enough to melt the congealed fat on its underside!
I mean, catering school 101: Never reheat chicken!! But to do so and not do it thoroughly is so unforgivable.
The lamb, which was supposed to be the house special, was so tough it was almost impossible to cut with a standard knife and the sauce it was in tasted of dishwater with a dash of orange juice--bizarre (and foul).
The rice, which was supposed to be two portions looked more like a half-portion and was similarly (barely) reheated.
Of course we complained and the waitress didn't apologise; indeed it was almost as if she expected us to complain, and immediately offered us a refund as if to get us out the door as soon as possible.
We chose to wait for the owner, who we had been told was on her way. She didn't seem surprised either only concerned that we didn't make a scene and let the incoming patrons know our thoughts! To this end she was incredibly rude.
To reiterate. This is without any doubt my worst dining experience in London in over 15 years. If you want Middle Eastern food you can get it at a third of the price, authentically cooked to order in view of you, in large portions and with polite service. For such a dining experience you will have to go North to Stoke Newington, Green Lanes or Hackney where you will find countless eateries where the food is divine: try Anatolya on Mare st., Hackney, for example.
Posh Middle Eastern and posh Lebanese is possible, there are many such restaurants on the Edgeware road. If you want to eat Lebanese and want plusher surroundings than Mare st. can offer then go to one of these.

I recently ate at this restaurant for the first time and thought the food was of a very good standard and well served. It is very expensive though, so if you want to pay a bit less then consider going there at lunchtime when they run special offers that really bring the price down.

The staff were friendly but I did find that when they were at a bit of a loose end they would hover about near where we were sitting, which at times was a bit irritating. They did also put dirty plates on the same tray as the food we were about to be served. But fortunately an eagle eyed waitress stepped in and served us our food.

Good food, just choose your time carefully to go there so that you don't pay a fortune.I recently ate at this restaurant for the first time and thought the food was of a very good standard and well served. Atmosphere was buzzing when we arrived last Friday evening at this cavenous place. My colleagues and I were taking advantage of the toptable offer - 50% off the menu. For the price of Â£20 each we enjoyed a selection of curries, pilau, naan and a mixed tandoori grill plus beers and mineral water. Annoyingly they don't serve tap water. However, curries were fresh, zingy and were good sized portions. I ordered a Jalfreezi curry with extra chilli and it was perfect. One of my colleagues ordered the Keema - minced lamb with lentils but said he preferred the cheaper more authentic version in Tooting. Service was a bit hit-and-miss unfortunately. As we were at the back of the restaurants it took a bit of time for the waiters to see we wanted service. It may have been the fact that the restaurant was so dimly lit or perhaps poor eye sight. Maybe the latter as they took away my plate before I finished eating! Coupled with the fact that they don't serve tap water, this left a bad taste in my mouth. what a great place! As soon as we went in we received a warm welcome, got given a great seat downstairs, and given excellent service. Be advised to book a few days earlier, it can get busy. We sat in one of the booths downstairs which was really nice. Quality of the food was really good and tasty, a little expensive but you get what you pay for. While we were there, they had belly dancers going around the restaurant, which was nice and added to the general good mood. The waiter was accurate and polite, I really recommend this place! I've visited this restaurant twice now, and although it definitely is priced above student budget, it makes a nice meal out. The waiting time wasn't unreasonable, and the menu always had something for everybody. The food has been delicious each time I've been, although if you are not used to London prices, you may be expecting to get more for your money. The restaurant serves very good Italian food and the restaurant is very nicely decorated and well staffed. It has to be noted, however, that some of the staff members have been quite ''in-your-face'' at times, and that might well be snobbery from not being very student friendly. The atmosphere generally has been very pleasant on all the occasions that I have gone. Rating: 3.00Tucci Benuch is a wonderful Italian restaurant with the most delicious dishes around. We had a pizza and pasta combo. That's right. Half a pizza and half pasta. The pasta had melted cheese all over and it was extremely tastey. They had on offer a lot of combo dishes, but if when you go there aren't any you should also buy two separate dishes and try a bit of both as the prices were Not bad at all given the location. Seating was an issue as we had to wait around 20 minutes before we could get any seats so we ended up hanging around outside. Luckily as it was summer the sun was shining, so take this advice on board especially if you're going in the Winter. There are some other Italian restaurants in the area but this one is rated more highly as it by locals and tourists alike as it was heething with customers (including us). the service of this restraunt should be one factor why i would like to go here again. the clientle of this restraunt indicated to me that its a well known place, the prices are competitve in some cases but the prices for the rice dishes to me seemed on the higher end marginally but was not a cause of concern, i ordered a vindaloo curry, it was nicely finished, i also had the makhni curry which is worth mentioning, i topped this out with a mango lassi and scoop of choc ice cream for dessert, all in all was good experience. what i must say abt d decor is dat it is a little bold but dat depends whether u like it or not as dey say beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.

abt me i did like it :) ...

Racine is an excellent restaurant in South Kensington which serves absolutely top notch French cuisine. The atmosphere isnâ¬"t the warmest, but the waiters are all very nice. It is an expensive restaurant, but the food is incredible. Even the bread they put on the table was absolutely delicious! Some of my favourite dishes are the foie gras as a starter which is very good, the steak tartare, which was very good as well, and all the steaks are really delicious. This is without a doubt my favourite French restaurant in London, and I would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a top quality French meal.Racine is an excellent restaurant in South Kensington which serves absolutely top notch French cuisine. Upon entering the place, you will be well pleased you choose this restaurant. Excellent decor, the restaurant is nicely laid out and gives the appearance of being rather large and spaceous of which it is.

This has to be by far the best indian/pakistani restaurant I have eaten in. The waiting staff very friendly and the food was as good as it gets. I order a boneless lamb curry which was cooked to perfection,I tend to order chicken dishes as you can't go wrong with chicken (too much) But this time I ordered the lambe curry and I am glad I did so, the portions were a good size and the meat was cooked nicely. The nans were not to dry and the peshwari nan was moist and well cooked. Only downside was that the bill was abit on the expensive side, But if you can afford it and your only going maybe once a month then this would deffinatley be the place to go, Highly recommendedUpon entering the place, you will be well pleased you choose this restaurant. Hmm Addies....this is definitely the best thai restaurant in the area.

The food is good quality and good value.
Service is very quick and I imagine they turnaround a lot of tables of an evening.

They also do a take way service if you don't fancy leaving the house and their menu is on-line.(http://www.addiesthai.co.uk/)

There is a bar in the basement which I have not been to but you have to go through to get to the toliets and I think last time I went though it there was karaoke. :-)

I booked this restaurant for my birthday meal with 12 of us in total.

Unfortunately, it seems they are unable to cater for a large table of people. The starters were good but came out late and some were cold. The main dishes came out late and one of them was another 20 minutes later than the rest, two of them were not cooked the way they were ordered, some of them were cold and some of the side dishes never arrived at all. Needless to say we skipped dessert.

The wine list is extremely limited so for us wine lovers it was very disappointing.

On the positive side, the waiting staff were friendly and tried to help with all the problems in the kitchen.

I go to Daphne's once a year; always a delight. Rabbit-filled pasta is delicious if a little buttery. Service always attentive. An early Friday evening lunch was on the cards as I had to get a train out of London at 8pm.

We arrived at CousCous Darna at around 5:30pm and chose to sit outside as although the clouds were blackening the promised rain had not yet shown its face.

We were seated and given the usual wine list and menus. We ordered drinks, a smooth beer brewed in Tangiers, perhaps not quite appropriately named Casablanca and a house red, introduced to us as a Moroccan blend. Thumbs up from the both of us on each.

After a few moments deliberation we settled from the wide selection of Brochettes, Tagines and Couscous on a Brochette bal houte (Marinated skewered trout) and Couscous Djaje (Stew of chicken with Couscous).

The rain fell after our food was ordered and I had to take cover under the awning which was just the right length to prevent any precipitation from soaking me while I sipped my beer.

The food arrived, clearly freshly prepared and presented to a very high standard on colourful plates with Arabic writing around the rims, the translation of which I could not tell you and completely forgot to ask, a request which would probably not have been revered by our very friendly server (possibly the manager, judging by his attire of black trousers, blue shirt and smart tie).

The trout was delectable, the rice had a hint of sweet melted butter in the middle which gave it an amazing texture moist, yet not wet, taste in the mouth.

My dining partner, my girlfriend, who is quite particular when it comes to eating out, was impressed by the chicken which came with sultanas, chickpeas and enough Couscous to fill a small quarry.

I must go on at this point to bring up a point that I would not normally when talking about food and that is my 10 out of 10 marks for the decor in the bathroom. Although located down a set of perilous stairs, they are done out in traditional Moroccan earthy colours, with a big bowl sink and given a nice touch with the slowly burning incense.

I come here quite often as it is close to work. You can sit by the bar and eat your sandwiches/sharwarma at lunch without all the fuss of eating at the tables. Everything is very fresh and fragrant. I would usually have a mixed sharwarma - which consists of marinated lamb and chicken grilled meat from the spit roast, with tomatoes, mayonnaise and gerkins wrapped with lebanese bread. Absoultely delicious with all the different flavours and textures combined- and also very filling so its enough for lunch and only Â£4! I brought my Chinese friend here the other week so he could try lebanese food and he loved it. I've also eaten the vine leaves, tabouleh and hummous and a few other plates for dinner. Avoid this restaurant!!! The service was absolutely terrible. My friend and I were sat in a corner next to two very loud parties,so we were often forgotten; plus,I could barely hear my friend. After 15 minutes sat on our own,we finally had a chance to order.The starter was OK,but my main was very dry and without flavour. To top it off, we ordered desserts only to be further let down.I ordered the apple tart and the ice cream was absolutely disgusting.We complained to the waiter.When he returned, he explained that the chef spilled salt in my ice cream. How could he serve me my dessert after knowingly spilling salt into my ice cream? I found this absolutely disgraceful and absurd. Good luck!Avoid this restaurant!!! Only a 5 minute stroll from work, the Kwality's eat-as-much-as-you-can buffet which is served lunchtime Monday to Friday is the place to come if you need a good feed. Usually Indian food at lunchtime is too heavy for me but Kwality's curries seem to be less stodgy - the problem is that i eat too much of it. The buffet consists of Onion bhajii's, salad, pilau rice, chicken korma, lamb curry, lentil curry and a vergetable curry. Not an extensive range but its not bad for the price. The restaurant is clean, modern but small so you might find you have to hover around for a bit before filling your plate. Food is fresh and they use Kwality (mind the pun) ingredients. However the curries could do with being spicier - I think they are addressing the mass market and perhaps the tourist that frequent the museum. the most authentic japanese ive ever been to. you eat almost in the familys kitchen. Their speciality is tempura and my god is it special. i real treat!
