This place is actually quite good for a night out, without the pretentiousness of some of londons leading clubs, It has a floor dedicated to dancing (in the basement), and on the entrance floor (ground), there is a large sitting area to socialise, this is great, it allows you to chat and talk without the need for shouting, and when you want the music loud you simply go downstairs and enjoy.

The Music ranges from the latest RnB, to House Classics. The drink selection is pretty impressive, they have proberbly one of the best top shelf selections I have encountered in London, ranging from Pinga 51 to JW Blue Label, and JW Swing. Pricewise very reasonable, a Jack and coke for Â£6.50.

Dont expect celebritys, or there hanger - ons, just expect nice, friendly people, a great atmosphere, sensible pricing, and most of all a great way to spend a saturday night.

I was walking past this place, and James the guy on the door who I knew previously from Funky Budhha, asked if id like to go in and take a look.

I went downstairs, and didnt come back up again, the place was rocking, a great mix of people, cultures, and not one person giving attitude, or problems.

When I was a teenager up in Scotland far too many years ago, I used to read adverts in Sounds and the NME for Punk bands like the clash and Pistols appearing at the 100 Club and would dream of being able to attend these gigs.

Well 30 years on the 100 Club is alive and well and still putting on excellent shows.

I managed to catch the Blockheads there recently, and apart from the Pinstriped city boys trying their best to be one of the crowd with mockney accents, it was a brilliant night.

Its in a basement, its crowded, the bars are too busy, it gets very hot, but the atmosphere is electric and the acoustics ring!

The club has a great system where you can order tickets for gigs online, pay by paypal, then you give your paypal name at the door and your let in....tremendous. The tickets were very cheap considering the rip-off prices you pay at some venues.

Give it a try....its a different and enjoyable night out and they have some great acts. Many of the gigs here are fantastic. It was refurbished not long ago so the place is clean and looks great with a 'pit' in the middle (where a few tables are) and on the sides are rows of tables tiering up so you can get a good view of the band from most vantage points. It is THE place to hang out at if you enjoy sampling jazz. Food and drink in the joint are pretty average but the desserts are very good, especially the strawberry cheesecake.Many of the gigs here are fantastic. Crobar! If the place was reduced to rubble and all that remained was the jukebox I'd still rather sit there than anywhere else in town. CHEAP and EVIL cocktails, spirits splashed everywhere and sometimes in your glass, tattoos, hot girls and LOUD music. Come on!

Plus the walls are covered in 2000AD meaning at the end of the night when you are under a table you have plenty to read.Crobar! Given that most music places in central London seem to be getting a facelift (re Ronnie Scotts), it is kinda nice to have these old-school sort of live music haunts. 'Aint nothing but...' is a smallish, dirty-looking bar (in a nice way!), where you can feel easily at home. The best thing about this place is the LED displays they've created on the walls. Hard to describe...let's just say that you shouldn't look at it, if you're epileptic.
I've been there twice in the last couple of years. The crowd was really young the first time, but more around the 25 median the last time.
Normal central London prices, and something that stays on till late around the area...unless you spot the usual queue outside.

Very alternative, and more for the hardcore clubber or fashionista...

Its hot sweaty and dark.. a kind of homage to the 80's underground clubs..

Cheap drinks and very raw.. Expect a long dance fueled night of fun.

Every night is very different and caters for a very different crowds each time.. Check whats on before you go. Cheap concessions can be found in most of the bars in Soho.. Always good Dj's.. Similar in class to the 12bar but with a much bigger stage. It's a cool venue with a great history, mostly
plastered on the walls in the form of old gig posters (a lot of bands have played here before they made it).

However, like most live music venues in London, don't expect the Ritz.

Again, as with the 12bar (just a stones throw away) you come here for the music, the fact they serve food and beer is a bonus.

Expect:

Good live music

Lager on tap, bottles and spirits.

Food of the burger, chips and nacho variety.Similar in class to the 12bar but with a much bigger stage. It's a cool venue with a great history, mostly

I went a couple of weeks ago with my boyfriend and it was the first jazz club I've been to in London. I've been to jazz clubs in New York and Toronto so I was surprised when I walked in. Decent cover charge of 5 pounds, but the place is REALLY, REALLY small. The drinks list isn't very good nor is their wine list, it's not somewhere you go to enjoy a really good glass of wine, but I really enjoyed the act they had on that night. Unfortunately I can't remember their name, but it was a female lead singer with a 5 piece band.

Our waiter was lovely; we walked in and had to be seated in the front of the club (it's sectioned off into 2 rooms, the entrance and the back where the mini stage is) where we couldn't see anything, but our lovely waiter took us to the back and made a little space for us in an alcove to the right of the stage where the bands normally store spare equipment. It was cozy and we had a really good view of the band. The venue itself is a bit strange: the front room reminds me a bit of an American-style bar what with the neon beer signs, and the back room where the bands perform reminds me of an old-school Italian-American restaurant.

It's an extremely small venue but well worth it; check your pretensions at the door, this is not a fancy, "swish" hot spot, but I quite liked it and would definitely go there again. Word to the wise from our waiter - under no circumstances order something from the kitchen as apparently the food is terrible. A very entertaining evening recently. The girls I was with were mesmerized by Miss Sahara's legs "it's not fair when men have betterlegs than women!".

The service was good, performers good, though the girls enjoyed the sailor stripper at the start more than anyuthing else. Movement, a weekly Drum and Bass event, draws a mixed crowd of tourists and regulars. The music policy is great, and the vibe is quite strong due to the confined space and insatiable beats.
